Absolutely Fabulous Greek/House Dressing

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2009
This is just so good. I scale it down to about 6 servings when I want to make it and I do equal parts oil and vineagar.

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2009
Wow! I did want to make this lower fat so I did half oil, half unsweetened applesauce. I also substituted 1/2 cup of the white sugar for brown sugar. And I didn't measure the zucchini, just shredded two of them. So good. Best I've ever made.

This is such a great recipe. I made it for 4th of July and everyone loved it. It's so easy, doesn't require an oven. You can't go wrong.

Special Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2009
FANTASTIC! Wonderful basic recipe. I doubled it to frost a 9" round layer cake and had some left over. Used 1/2 shortening and 1/2 butter for a richer flavor. Also, because I was using this to frost the Lemon Chiffon Cake from this site, I used 1 1/2 teaspoons of lemon extract instead of vanilla.

Lemon Chiffon Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2009
I got so many compliments on this cake (made it for a bridal shower). The only change I made was to add 1 teaspoon of lemon extract to the batter and bake it in 2 9" round pans. I did find the cook time too much. I cooked it for about 20-25 minutes. Topped this with the Special Buttercream Frosting from this site (but added lemon extract to the frosting too).

Peach Cobbler II

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2009
Wow! That's all I can say. I did follow a couple other reviews by cutting the sugar in the peaches to 1 cup and using 7 peaches instead of 3. I also cut the water to 1 cup and made it in a 9x13 pan. Perfect.

Blueberry Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2009
Made 2 loafs with the one recipe. Also made it healthier by doing half wheat flour, half white. Cut the sugar to 1 1/2 cups and used applesauce instead of oil. Great way to use the zucchini from the garden

Strawberry/Rhubarb Crumb Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2009
I will never make double crust strawberry rhubarb pie again. The topping was delightfully crunchy. I did make a slight change to the recipe because of all the reviews talking about runniness. I omitted the egg and added about 2 Tbsp of cornstarch to the filling. I also scaled back the sugar by about 1/3 cup. Absolutley delicious.

Spinach Quiche

Reviewed: May 10, 2009
Made it this morning for brunch. It was great. I left out the mushrooms and prebaked the crust so it wouldn't get soggy. Other than that, didn't change a thing. Lots of people said it made enough for two quiches but it made one deep dish pie pan perfectly.

Sour Cream Pork Chops

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2009
This was so good. The sauce didn't thicken up so I made a roux of flour and butter, then added the sauce to that. That was perfect.

Quick Lemon Dijon Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2009
Update: I started with giving this a 4 but now after making it a couple more times, I'm upgrading to a 5. This is so easy and the chicken comes out so tender. *** Past review:I liked this. A couple reviewers said it wasn't that mustardy but it was but I love mustard so it was ok. I put extra lemon in it because I love lemon and I left out the lime. I love how quick it is so I'll be making this over and over.

Easy Morning Glory Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2009
Pretty good muffins. I mostly stuck to the recipe with a few changes. I don't like raisins so I used dried cranberries but next time I think I'll just leave those out. I used whole wheat flour, 1 cup brown sugar instead of white sugar, and used 1/4 oil and 3/4 cup applesauce as other reviewers suggested to make it more healthy. The result was a very moist, almost carrot cake-like muffin that had just the right amount of sweetness.

Fabulous French Loaves

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2009
I'm not a great bread maker and it's something I've always struggled with so I went into this with low expectations. I halved the recipe and only made 1 loaf just in case. Boy was a I regretting that! This was so good. I made it with the American Lasagna on this site and it was literally gone after one meal. I will be making this again for my stepdad's birthday this weekend. So so good!

Homesteader Cornbread

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2008
This is my keeper cornbread recipe. I accidentally added twice the amount of sugar and salt. It still tasted good and was very moist, although it made it very chewy.

Debdoozie's Blue Ribbon Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2015
I've never made chili before. I made this to test a recipe for my boss because the supervisors were having a chili cookoff at work today for Super Bowl and she's uber-competitive but can't cook to save her life. But this was great. I made a mistake and only put 4 tsp of chili seasoning in instead of 4 Tbsp so I added more chili powder, garlic powder, cumin and cayenne to spice it up. I also followed some other reviews and used a 14 oz can of tomato sauce, a can of Rotel, and subbed one can of kidney beans for chili beans. Then my boss made it for today and added hot Italian sausage to it and she won! I'll be making this again for sure!

Black Bean and Couscous Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2008
There's a local restaurant that sometimes has a similar salad on the menu that i love. I found this recipe and tried it and it's very similar. I increased the amount of lime juice because I like a little tang but otherwise, this is perfect as is.

Creamy Dill Cucumber Toasties

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2008
These were fantastic! I made these for my sister's bridal shower and they were everyone's favorite. The only thing I did differently was add the dill to the cream cheese mixture like other suggested and topped each one with a sprig of fresh dill.

Bread and Celery Stuffing

I needed a recipe for stuffing that didn't include sausage since my stepdad can't have it. This one was very basic and delicious.

Party Punch IX

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2008
I made this for my sister's bridal shower. I used 1 raspberry and 2 strawberry jellos. I followed other suggestions and cut the sugar to 2 cups and it was plenty sweet that way. But it was delicious. People really liked it. The volume of liquid was a lot but I like others' ideas about freezing in bags and just adding the ginger ale. I'll try that next time.
