Parsnip and Carrot Puree

So I was not sure how I would feel about this going in. But I grew a lot of parsnips and just harvested them all and was thinking "What can I do that's quicker than roasting them?" So I tried this recipe and I'm glad I did! This was simple and so tasty! I probably used only 4-5 Tbsp butter because it was what I had left. Otherwise I didn't change a thing. The butter makes it taste rich but the carrot and parsnip sweetness come through. Loved it and definitely making it again soon!

Debdoozie's Blue Ribbon Chili

I've never made chili before. I made this to test a recipe for my boss because the supervisors were having a chili cookoff at work today for Super Bowl and she's uber-competitive but can't cook to save her life. But this was great. I made a mistake and only put 4 tsp of chili seasoning in instead of 4 Tbsp so I added more chili powder, garlic powder, cumin and cayenne to spice it up. I also followed some other reviews and used a 14 oz can of tomato sauce, a can of Rotel, and subbed one can of kidney beans for chili beans. Then my boss made it for today and added hot Italian sausage to it and she won! I'll be making this again for sure!

Robbi's M&M's® Cookies

So yummy! I had to use up some leftover holiday M&Ms so decided to make these for our camping trip this weekend. I multiplied the recipe by 1.5 and did 1 cup shortening with 1/2 a cup butter. Delicious! I think we are going to try making cookie S'mores tonight with these.

Savory Turkey Gravy

I love this gravy. Nice simple basic recipe. The only thing I do differently (and to be honest may be why I love it so much) is that I use the drippings from the turkey and then supplement with turkey stock or chicken broth to make it 5 cups.

Italian Spaghetti Sauce with Meatballs

Great recipe. I add oregano to the sauce because spaghetti sauce needs oregano. Sometimes a little rosemary too. But I love this recipe!

Corn Dogs

So yummy!!! I actually found that not rolling them in flour made the batter stick. The ones I rolled in flour caused the batter to slide off. I also dipped chunks of pepper jack cheese in the batter and fried them. Delicious!

Bloody Broken Glass Cupcakes

5 stars for presentation. But it was a giant pain in the butt. I made the chocolate surprise cupcakes from this site (which are 5 stars) and used canned vanilla frosting to frost them. The glass took over an hour and a half and I ended up having to speed it up because I was running out of time (resulting in slightly brown tinted glass which is my fault not the recipes. Will not go through the effort again.

Creme Brulee II

Very good. Used 4 egg yolks like other reviews and had to cook it in shallow custard ramekins for about 38 min but it came out wonderfully done. Used a kitchen torch on top.

Chicken Mole

Disappointing and not what I was expecting. Good flavor which is why it's still 3 stars in my book. I followed another review and did this in my slow cooker for 3 hours on high so it would be really tender.

Buttery Soft Pretzels

SOOOOO worth the effort! My first pretzel-making foray was a success. I just ate one right out of the oven and even though I probably should have left it in for another minute, it's divine! Didn't change hardly a thing except multiplied the recipe by 1.5 and got 14 good sized pretzels. I did use a little less flour since other reviews said it was dry and brushed them with melted butter just cuz I like it that way.

Slow Cooker Homemade Beans

These were fantastic for 4th of July! However I am giving them only 4 stars because I added Worchestshire sauce and BBQ sauce because what are beans without it! But super good recipe! Making it again for Labor Day!

Tomatillo Salsa Verde

Delicious! Served with Hint of Lime tortilla chips and it was even better. Which means I will probably add just a little lime juice next time if I serve it with regular tortilla chips to give it more zing!

Now the most popular dish I make for parties but I do make it differently. I do 1/2 mayo, 1/2 sour cream, use diced nacho jalapenos and use Mexican blend shredded cheese, not Parmesan.

Zucchini Boats on the Grill

So I just read the recipe and realized I made more changes than I thought (because I forgot to add the basil, salt, and pepper) so maybe 5 stars isn't fair to the original recipe. But these are super yummy. I substituted red pepper flakes to taste for the jalapeno because I was lazy and didn't feel like cutting it up and fried up 2 pieces of bacon and crumbled them instead of bacon bits. Also cooked them in a toaster oven instead of on the grill. But I cannot wait to do these on the grill. Definitely making them again.

Chicken In Basil Cream

Very nice! The sauce was yummy! I used olives stuffed with pimentos because I couldn't find pimentos by themselves. Served over fettucine.
