I am mother to our 4 year old princess, Madison Grace, and a high school Spanish teacher. I am married to a member of our United States Navy. We are parents to a 4 year old chocolate lab named Tucker.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook things that my daughter enjoys. She never ate jarred baby food so we feel we have an advantage because she eats better than the average 4 year year old and is always willing to try new things. It is always a blessing when she says, "Yummy! I love it!"
My favorite family cooking traditions
My parents are from South America (Chile and Paraguay) so I love when my mom cooks traditional meals from her country, which is Paraguay. It does not happen too often because the recipes are very time consuming but well worth the wait.
My cooking triumphs
I truly enjoy baking with our daughter! My husband is the true chef in our home. I try new recipes in the summer and during school vacations. One of my cooking triumphs was when I recreated my mom's lasagna almost perfectly. I have adjusted it since to accommodate the taste buds of my own family, but they do love it!
My cooking tragedies
The first time I had my in-laws visiting for Thanksgiving I tried to baste the turkey. I had never cooked a turkey before because we always go to my parents' home so this was truly an experience for all. When I went to baste the turkey, all of the juices from inside the turkey baster flew all over the floor in front of the oven and inside the oven. It went everywhere except on the turkey. We still laugh about this.
