Good bread, with a delicate banana and nut flavor.

Hot German Potato Salad III

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2005
The taste is good (due mostly to the bacon), but the amount of "sauce" for the salad is inadequate. It doesn't make enough to coat all of the potato slices. It should probably be doubled.

Blueberry Cream Muffins

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2005
I think this recipe has potential and so I will try it again sometime. 400 degrees is way too hot a temperature setting to bake these at (at least for my oven).

Irish Soda Bread I

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2005
It tastes good. However... you are told to not overmix it, yet it needs overmixing in order for all the dry ingredients to finally be incorporated. The other thing is that you spend twice the time of preparation in prying loose the gooey, awfully sticky dough off of the beater, sides of the bowl, spatula, and your fingers. If not, half of it would be left sticking to everything it can.

Grandma's Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2004
It's a good recipe. However, it doesn't make anywhere near the advertised 10 servings. Doubled, it fit perfectly into a 2.5 Qt. casserole dish - yielding perhaps 5 to 6 servings.

Crab Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2003
Didn't like this very much. And the celery should be drained after chopping. Otherwise, it adds a ton of water to the salad.

Baked Mushrooms

Nice sautee, but much more salt is needed than the recipe asks for.

Quick Rice Pilaf

Reviewed: May 9, 2003
Good and easy to prepare. The recipe asks for an excessive amount of pepper, making the dish very hot. Had I also added the indicated 2 T of hot sauce, a hole would have been burned through the pot. Glad I tasted before adding hot sauce and was able to thus prevent the dish from becoming inedible.

Cottage Dill Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2003
The bread is quite flavorful but it rose only halfway. That's because I live at high altitude and the recipe doesn't offer the necessary adjustments for that.

Chocolate Chip Cheese Ball

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2002
Good concept for a treat - original, too. However, as other raters mentioned, my cheeseball didn't harden enough even after 6 hours in the refrigerator. It is for that reason that I have to give this recipe only 4 stars. Had I had more time, I guess I could have put the ball in the freezer overnight. Maybe that's the answer to the problem.

Easy Apple Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2002
Definitely a good cake. The amount of apples called for in the recipe is excessive, though. It needs only about 4 apples, and that would be plenty. However, it is very time-consuming to prepare, it takes a long time to bake and then has to sit for half an hour before being ready to be removed from the pan. A time-killer of a recipe, and for this reason I wouldn't make ir again.

Cheesy Sausage Zucchini Casserole

My neighbor brought me a huge zucchini. I made this recipe, and what a feast! The taste is delicious. It takes a little time to make, but I think it's worth it.
