My husband and I at our rehearsal dinner
About this Cook
Ever since I was a kid,I enjoyed cooking. I started cooking family dinners in middle school and never stopped. Lucky for me, my husband loves to eat, and isn't very picky, so I can have alot of fun!
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy cooking almost anything, but I definately have some preferences. I love making anything italian, and I look for main dish recipes with homemade sauces, reductions and such. The easier it is, the better, but I will take more time if it is for a special meal.
My favorite family cooking traditions
For holidays, my family always makes all of my Italian favorites, potato croquettes, rice balls, canneloni and almond tarts and other pastries for dessert.
My cooking triumphs
I get rave reviews whenever I make my pork tenderloin medallions with dijon tarragon sauce, and my chinese char sui is also very popular. I'm not as great at baking, but I decided to make a traditional Sicilian Cassata cake for my mother's birthday, and she loved it! She said it was just like the way they made them when she was a kid.
My cooking tragedies
I tried to get very creative one day and make potato crusted red snapper served over a fava bean cream and asparagus. When I was done, it looked nothing like it was supposed to. I had used every pot/pan I owned, the kitchen was a mess, and the potatoes never did stick to the snapper and ended up being somewhat like potato chips! Everything tasted OK, but it was very dissapointing after all of the time I had spent!!

Rhubarb Strawberry Crunch
Yum, Yum, Yum!! Followed alot of the other reviews and added less sugar to the fruit, added a little more flour to the fruit and a dash of cinnamon as well - the topping was fabulous and even my husband who doesn't care for fruit desserts gobbled this up! Thanks for the keeper!

Sophie's Zucchini Bread
Really enjoyed this recipe - loved that it had more zucchini that typical recipes - pretty much followed to a T except for using applesauce in place of the oil - will probably make this again!

Nutty Apple Crisp
Great recipe that was a spin off of a classic. I used more like 7 cups of apples and added cinnamon and some vanilla to the crisp topping - I can't imagine the recipe without cinnamon and the vanilla added more depth of flavor in my opinion. I used 1/2 cup pecans b/c that is what I had on hand - put them through a nut grinder, so they were more of a fine chop than called for but they added a great texture and flavor to the dish - will continue to make through apple season!
