GA Peach Pound Cake

Reviewed: May 21, 2013
Mmm Delicious! I split the recipe in 1/2 and baked in a 9"x6" pan for 57 min with no changes other than using white peaches(only kind i had on hand). I topped it with a broiled topping. The little bits if warm peach in the cake was like little pieces of heaven, and the cake itself was soft and light. Only change i'll make is doubling the amount of peaches next time. A new favorite, i will make this again and again! Thank you Dent! ***BROILED TOPPING RECIPE: Combine 4 tbsp butter with 1/3 cup sugar(brown or white). Stir in 1/2 cup chopped walnuts, pecans, etc. Spread a thin layer of topping over fully cooked cake. Broil on high in oven for approx. 5 min, until sizzling and slightly golden brown. Enjoy!

Quick Elephant Ears

Reviewed: May 19, 2013
Very quick and easy. Not the same as authentic elephant ears, but a terrific recipe in its own. Thank you Terry! ***UPDATE*** These work just as well with whole wheat tortillas.

Chocolate Syrup

Reviewed: May 19, 2013
This recipe is good, only problem being that it didn't really thicken. I increased heat after a few minutes hoping it would thicken which it didn't, so i added a mixture of flour/water(i was out of cornstarch). Very yummy though, perfect balance of chocolate and sugar. Tasted great over the "Fluffy Pancakes" from this website. Mmm!

Lentil Soup with Lemon

Reviewed: May 18, 2013
Mmm Delicious! I didn't puree anything and pressure cooked the lentils. Tastes just like authentic daal. Pita bread or just regular bread is a great side to this delicious soup. Thank you Jodi!

Chocolate Cobbler

Reviewed: May 18, 2013
I've never had a cobbler before, but if this is what a cobbler is, it is officially one of my favorite desserts. I was very skeptical about the gooey mess i was putting in the oven, but it came out as a beautiful crunchy chocolatey pan of deliciousness! The only change i made was baking for 34 min instead of 30. I also substituted self-rising flour for AP flour+1.5 tsp baking powder+1/4 tsp salt. Yum! Thank you for this wonderful recipe.

Best Toffee Ever - Super Easy

Reviewed: May 14, 2013
I just made this and am waiting for it to cool. Looks delicious. Based on that and the little bits i tasted, i give this recipe a 5 star. I didn't have almonds so i used walnuts. Ill update my review after the toffee cools. Can't wait!***UPDATE*** i just tasted the finished toffee, and can i just say that it is absolutely AMAZING! It exceeded all my expectations. Way better than almond roca, because it is homemade. thank you for this awesome recipe!

Garlic Chicken Stir Fry

Reviewed: May 12, 2013
I made this recipe twice. To the "t", the dish is slightly bland, lacking flavor, and the vegetables get mushy. However, with a few changes the second time, it comes out very delicious. I added more spices for one thing, double just about all of them as well as adding about 2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes. Also, i fully cooked the chicken before adding the vegetables. I left out peas and a few other veggies, just using broccoli, bell pepper, and onions. I also added more spices to the sauce for extra flavor. yum!

Crispy and Creamy Doughnuts

Reviewed: May 4, 2013
Delicious! Thank you for this wonderful recipe Kelly. I followed it exactly as directed, except i substituted butter for shortening. Also, I used a glass and a orange juice can lid to cut the doughnuts out since i don't have a doughnut cutter. I split the recipe in half, and still got 20 good sized doughnuts after it. Yummy and easy, this recipe was worth the time and effort it took to make it.

White Frosting

Reviewed: May 3, 2013
Wonderfully yummy frosting, but the consistency was a little thin. I will add more flour/milk next time to thicken it a bit. Very yummy though, thank you Sierra!***UPDATE*** I changed my rating from 4 to 3 stars, due to the frosting hardening after it cools in the fridge. I would prefer that it remain soft. The taste is good, but like another reviewer said, it feels "waxy" after a while. I will look for another recipe. thanks anyhow

Heavenly White Cake

Reviewed: May 3, 2013
This is a very light, fluffy, and delicious cake! I used half the recipe to make 12 good-sized cupcakes and frosted them with the "white frosting" recipe on this site. Both the frosting and the cake are amazing, and together they taste like a lil slice of heaven. I will DEFINITELY be using this recipe to make a strawberry bar cake for Mother's Day for my mom. Yum! ***CHANGES I MADE*** I added 1/4 cup extra milk(add 1/2 if your using original recipe amount) and used all purpose flour since i don't have cake flour. Next time, i will substitute the tsp of almond extract for an extra tsp of vanilla, since i'm not really a fan of almond flavoured cake. Thank you for this amazing recipe Carol!

Buffalo Chicken Wing Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2013
Yummy!! My mom was gonna use regular tabasco sauce for our chicken wings, but then i recommended this recipe and boy, is it DELICIOUS! We did use tabasco sauce as the base. Thanks Chef John!***CHANGES*** We reduced the butter to 1/4 cup. it tasted perfect. Also, we stuck the chicken in the over for 3-5 min after coating with the sauce. Waaay better when baked a little in the oven since it causes a little of the sauce to crisp and leaves plenty of saucy goodiness to dip in as well.

Bread Pudding II

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2013
the taste was great, but next time ill reduce the milk to 1 1/2 cup, and reduce the eggs to 3 since the bread was soggy-ish on the inside and overcooked on the outside even though i used 8 pieces of bread.***UPDATE*** I refrigerated the pudding and it tastes MUCH better this way with vanilla sauce poured on top. However, i will still reduce the egg and milk next time to avoid overcooking the pudding, which i had to do this time.

Butter Icing for Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2013
Wonderful icing! I used only 1 tsp vanilla and refrigerated the cookies for 1 hour, hardening the icing to perfection. I gave the cookies half an hr to thaw after taking out of the fridge so they were soft when served.
