After spending 20+ years in the Air Force, I finally retired in 1989. I actually started cooking nearly 50 years ago by baking box cakes with my mother. I learned a lot of cooking "stuff" in the military. I still get rave reviews for my chili and dirty rice recipes.
My favorite things to cook
Anything quick and easy. I love to start with a mix and doctor it up to make it my own.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My favorite thing to cook is my mother's roast beef. It cooks for about 4-6 hours and just falls apart when served. It took me 18 years to figure out how she did it but I finally did!
My cooking triumphs
Smooth Gravy... and Cooking for Groups!!
My cooking tragedies
Aside from the occasional burn or cut, I have actually been pretty lucky while cooking. One time I was cutting carrots and I ran out of carrots before I ran out of thiumb! That was fun.
