Blame the Dog Bean Casserole (Kielbasa and Bean Dish)

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2014
This was quite yummy. I had to alter it slightly due to what I had on hand, and personal preferences. I added a little more celery, black beans instead of kidney, crushed tomatoes rather than tomato sauce and only a little bit of red wine and ketchup. It was just sweet enough, but not overpoweringly. My picky 10 year old daughter ate most of what I put on her plate, and that is a miracle because I didn't think she would eat anything but the meat. As for cooking it, I added all the ingredients to a large cast iron skillet and cooked it on the stove for about 20 minutes before putting it in a 400°F oven for another 20 minutes and it came out very nicely.

Cajun Seafood Pasta

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2012
Very good base recipe. I altered it a bit. We didn't want it spicy because of our kiddos, so I only added a little bit of the peppers. I also added two crushed garlic cloves and all freshly chopped herbs. The sauce did come out a bit too soupy but the flavor was amazing.

Sage Pork Chops

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2012
This is an incredible tasting and incredibly easy recipe! I used a fraction of the salt though. I don't like salty food and the beef bouillon provides plenty of salt to begin with. My husband loved it and so did my two young children.

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2012
Wow! These are excellent! I may never make banana bread again because these were so awesome! I only made slight changes due to what I had on-hand and flavor preferences. I only had two bananas,(and make sure you use RIPE (black peel) bananas)so I added about 1/4 cup of natural applesauce. I also added some walnuts. And for the crumb coating I omitted the flour and added about 1/3 cup of oats. Very moist and fluffy. Everyone loved them!

These are very delightful! I followed the recipe and also added a cinnamon oat streusel topping and then a lemon glaze. The muffins were very moist and cake-like. I will definitely make these again!

Chicken Zucchini Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2011
Wow! I wasn't expecting this to have as much flavor as it did. The only changes I made was adding 2 small summer squash in addition to the zucchini and I used cream of mushroom soup rather than cream of chicken. My daughters were both complaining as I was preparing this. They were not thrilled to eat zucchini again. And you know what? They loved this and my youngest went back for seconds. I would like to cut back on the butter next time but only for health reasons.

Man Pleasin' Jambalaya

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2011
This pleased not only my man but my 7 year old daughter and myself as well. I didn't have sausage so I added some shrimp and had to omit the celery due to not having any on hand. There wasn't any spiciness to this but had the perfect amount of flavor. Subtle, light and a healthy feeling. It left us all feeling good and full and there are plenty of leftovers!

Boiled Bagels

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2011
Incredible! I followed the recipe without changing a thing. This was my first attempt at homemade bagels and my family and I are thrilled with the results. It wasn't as labor intensive as I'd expected either. I broiled them after they were finished rising, then boiled them for the 7 minutes and baked them for about 20 minutes. Absolutely Glorious!

Sweet and Sour Chicken I

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2010
Incredible! I didn't have any self rising flour so I made some by adding 3 1/4 tsp of baking powder and 1 1/8 tsp salt to all purpose flour. Everything else I followed exact! These taste exactly like what we get from our local Chinese restaurants. I have been searching everywhere (even on allrecipes) for this exact flavor! Thank You LINDAHU!!!

Mexican Layered Dip

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2010
This was pretty good. I made my own taco seasoning and mixed it in with the beans as others suggested. This is a great recipe because you can adjust it to suit your own taste buds. It's a great base recipe!

Churros

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2010
I spent a few hours preparing a Mexican style dinner for my family from scratch and realized I neglected dessert. This was EXCELLENT! Very simple to make with very few ingredients. My 6 year old daughter told me to make these everyday! To others who have stated the dough is still raw on the inside, turn your oil down! It's cooking too quickly on the outside giving you the impression it's done. Slow and steady and you'll get a perfect golden color.

Aw-some Cole Slaw

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2010
Excellent! This was my first attempt at making cole slaw. I admit I cheated a little by buying the pre-bagged stuff, only because of time restrictions. Next time I'll chop my own. I cut down on the sugar and only added a couple of TBS. I also used apple cider vinegar rather than plain white vinegar and that added a better sweetness to it. Fresh lemon juice and freshly ground pepper, 15 hours in the fridge and it tastes soooo good. It's too bad I'm the only one in my house that likes cole slaw!

Grilled Sausage with Potatoes and Green Beans

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2008
This was great! I needed a quick and easy dinner for me to prepare and my husband to cook while I was at work. I had some when I got home and it was awesome! My husband and 2 daughters loved it as well. I omitted the onion because I didn't have any and used regular potatoes. Absolutely perfect!

Easy Pancakes

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2008
Mmm..Mmmm. I have been making these pancakes as written for about 2 years now but I went back and read the reviews and took the advice of using only 2 tsp baking powder and adding cinnamon and vanilla. Wow! These are incredible! I also added blueberries. The whole family gobbled them up!

Country Fried Steak and Milk Gravy

Reviewed: May 2, 2008
Great! My picky 4 year old had two helpings! I tasted the gravy prior too serving and it was a little bland so I added extra pepper, onion powder and garlic powder to taste and that made it perfect. I also added some butter to the drippings before making the roux. My husband, 8 year old and 4 year old all said this recipe is a keeper! I served it with mashed potatoes and asparagus! Yum!

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies IV

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2007
Exactly what I was looking for!! I am very picky when it comes to oatmeal raisin cookies so I am so happy I found the right cookie on the first shot. I added a little extra cinnamon and omitted the nuts. I used stoneground whole wheat flour too. These are amazingly perfect cookies! A definite keeper!

GREAT! Just had this for dinner. Everyone loved it. I omitted the sour cream and filled the soup can halfway with milk. I added just a small amount of mozzarella cheese. I also took the advice of another rating and added a little bit of ketchup and parsley. I added frozen carrots, broccoli, and cauliflower. My kids and husband LOVED it!!

Aussie Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2007
This was quite good. I thought it would have athicker sauce on the chicken but it thinned out quite a bit. The flavor was very good. I'd add more cheese, just because I love cheese. I served with onion rings and spinach. Yummy!!
