French Beef Stew

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2012
This is a delicious stew. I've made it twice. The first time I made it exactly as it appears. The second time I added cut green beans instead of celery only because i did't have celery and I added about a tablespoon or so of worcestershire sauce. Wonderful both ways!

Wonderful! Just a really yummy classic. I used veggie oil but that is the only thing I changed. I may add a bit more onion next time. It is now in my recipe box. Thank you!

Daddy's Savory Tomato Biscuits

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2013
I have a brother who can take a can of peas and a dozen eggs and make a gourmet meal! These were wonderful! I added a little shredded sharp cheddar cheese bc reading the recipe brought to mind having a grilled cheese with tomato soup so it seemed like a natural thing to do. They were delish! Thanks!

Sweet Pepper Pasta Toss

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2013
Holy cow!!! This is wonderful! I used this recipe as the base of a "fridge clean out". In other words I had all of these ingredients in my fridge that needed to be used up. I had one more thing though and it was three quarters of a 46 ounce bottle of tomato juice that I had left over from making veggie chili. So I reduced the tomato juice by about a quarter and went on with the regular recipe from there. I minced the garlic and seasoned the garlic and peppers before they went into the oven with salt and pepper. I also took about half of the tomato juice and the roasted garlic and peppers and put it in the blender and then mixed it back in to the rest of the chopped roasted garlic and peppers and tomato juice mixture. I used both chopped parsley and basil adding them at the very end with the goat and parm cheeses. My Hubby loved it too! My taste buds are happy happy tonight! Thank you, FCF, for posting the recipe!

Pineapple Upside-Down Cake VII

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2013
This was delish!!! I made it for my kids for the kick off of the new "Psych" season. (If you are not familiar, you have to find a pineapple in each episode.) It was a big hit! My mother even licked her plate --- and she is a propper lady! It was very moist --- almost too moist as it was a bit messy to cut --- but who cares when it tastes this good. I took the advice of other reviewers and added the pineapple juice to the batter. I also disolved the brown sugar in the butter. It was a perfect fit or my 11" cast iron skillet. Thanks for posting the recipe Anne!

Frugal Pumpkin Pasta

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2013
This was really yummy! I needed to use up the other half of a big package of goat cheese and use what we had it the house. It was quick and easy and because I buy the goat cheese at BJs it was indeed frugal! My hubby and kiddos loved it, so it is now in our dinner rotation! Thank you for sharing the recipe!

Megan's Granola

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2013
I was looking for a good granola recipe to take along with my family on car trips. This one fits the bill perfectly! I didn't quite have enough oats so I subbed Cheerios (Which are always in abundance here!) for part of the oats. I added chopped dried mixed fruit. To a quarter of the mixture I added some dark M&Ms for trail mix. the rest I saved for snacking and cold cereal. It was crispy and yummy and just chunky enough for finger food. Thanks for sharing the recipe!

Slow Cooker Cinnamon Apple Steel Cut Oats

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2013
What a perfect breakfast to have on a weekday morning in the winter! It is warm and filling and comforting and so nice to have it ready in the morning. I added dried, mixed and chopped fruit instead of the apples. I thought it needed some salt to counter the sweet so I added 1/2 a teaspoon. I also added two tablespoons of olive oil to round out the texture and add MUFAs (monounsaturated fatty acids)to the meal. With these two additions, it was absolutely five stars! I used the steel cut oats and sprayed the pot and it did not stick. I will so be making this again and again. Thanks for posting it Debbie!

Candied Pecans

Reviewed: May 5, 2014
Made these for teacher appreciation week tonight and we must really appreciate these teachers because otherwise my family and would have eaten them all! Soooo good!!! I added a vanilla glaze in stripes because they reminded me of cinnamon buns so I figured, what the heck, lets guild the lily. I can't wait to get these out of my house or the teachers won't have many to munch! Thanks for the great recipe!
