Apple Crisp

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2010
I tried this recipe and the flavor was awesome. I did not however have the consistency that the recipe said I would to cut up into bars. The apples did not stick to the crust and falling all over and the crust stuck to the pan. Not sure how I failed this. But, I will try again because the ingredients together were amazing.

Lentil and Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2010
This soup was flavorful. I cooked in the slow cooker and it took forever for the lentils to get soft. It was ok the next day.

Raspberry and Almond Shortbread Thumbprints

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2009
These cookies are very tasty, but mine didn't come out like the picture. The jelly bled into the dough and the cookes looked like blood shot eyes. So other than the appearance- and was going to give them as gifts, they had to use for the family- they didn't mind thou.

Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2009
All I can say is thank you. This was so easy to make it doesn't seem possible that it took 10 minutes to throw together. My family loved it. I did add sour cream at the end to each bowl. I also let it simmer on the stove for 45 minutes to soften the onions so the children would see them. I added drained black beans as well. Easy, fast, delicious.

Perfect Apple Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2009
This pie was an extreme disappointment. It is the pie crust that is difficult. I followed the directions and the dough came out crumbly and so I decided to give it another try and dumped the first batch. Second try, same exact problem. I tried everything to get this to work. I should have just stopped and bought pillsbury pie dough in the sheets- That might have saved this apple pie the day before Thanksgiving. Right now cooked but NO top. Managed to mangle together the bottom crust-

Pumpkin and Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2009
I also substituted some things. I used crumbled italian sausage (out of the casing)(sweet, but I bet spicy would be great too). I used Frangelica liquor, I used half and half, and I spiced it up slightly with garlic powder. Oh, only used about 3 tbsp of brown sugar. Everyone loved the flavor, and because I used puree pumkin and crumbled sausage, I didn't have to do the very messy blending the soup. Served with hearty bread- Was a crowd pleaser

Tuscan Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2009
This was excellent. I did make a few changes. I used sweet italian sausage, and then just added some red pepper flakes to taste. I used half/half, instead of evaporated milk. I also sauted with the onion, 2 cloves of garlic. It turned out to be a nice hearty soup. Served with salad, and warm bread. We loved it- Thanks

Key West Penne

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2009
Ok, great recipe but added a few things. First, I sauted fresh garlic in a very small amount of olive oil before adding fish. Second, I added fresh parsley and cayenne pepper to taste. Just enough to give it a kick- Very nice

Chicken, Garlic, and Sundried Tomato Pasta

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2007
This recipe was very good. It was a nice meal to make on a weekday and the family enjoyed it. I was leary of the condensed soup, so I bought the light version. I also made a few changes. I browned the garlic and then added boiled chicken to brown. I also used fresh parsley. I did'nt add any salt (because of soup and sundried tomatoes- enough with the sodium). In addition I used 5 cloves of garlic- after all I am italian.

I made this in kind of a hurry for dinner last night. I only marinated for 20 minutes. It was fabulous. Everything went. Plan on making for Christmas guests.

Pork Tenderloin

Very Good. Everyone liked it, even my very picky 9 year old. I didn't think I would appreciate the apple jelly sauce, but it was extremely good. I made with mash potatoes and asparagus. The sauce was so good, I poured a little over the potatoes.

Grandma Johnson's Scones

I made 2 scone recipes from this website for the same morning brunch. This one was by far the better one. I substituted dried sweeted cranberries for the raisins. My guests really enjoyed these and they took some home with them.

I have made this twice and it is a huge hit with my husband. I did cut back on the sugar the second time, and only used 1/2 cup- didn't even notice it
