A Simply Perfect Roast Turkey

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2003
I followed this recipie, but used sage and pepper on top of the turkey instead of salt and pepper. The biggest problem I had was the cooking time. I had a 9lbs turkey (if that) and after four - five hours at the temperature suggested it still was not cooked (just the thighs) and not really sure why....

Chocolate Babka

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2003
I made this and my friends loved it. I didn't really like the topping myself, I found it too sweet for me.

Babka III

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2003
I have made this Babka twice now... away from my grandmother's traditional recipie which no one knows. I followed this exactly the first time, the second time I added more raisins. Both times I ended up with three separate loaves - one baked in an angel food cake pan, and two in regular bread pans. They all turned out wonderful; however, turns out a little on the dry side and not sure how to correct it.

Paradise Pumpkin Pie II

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2003
My friends enjoyed this pie a lot. When making it, I ran into a couple of problems. The 9" shell I used was too small! I had so much pumpkin filling left over. So, I grabbed more cream cheese, and made another 9" pie and 12 little tarts. This allowed me to use up all the pumpkin mix. I also found that it was best to let the cheesecake part sit for a little bit before pouring the pumpkin over top. One comment I received from my friends was that the topping was really sweet. Might try cutting back on the sugar next time. Other than that, great recipe!

Ally's Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2003
Well, for a recipie that says 2 1/2 dozen, I ended up with almost 6!! They must be really large cookies for 2 1/2 dozen! :) I used chocolate milk instead of white milk and added extra chocolate chips. They cooked fine, but seemed a little bland than others I have had.

New York Cheesecake I

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2003
I'm not a cheesecake eater myself, and this being the first baked one I've made, it did not turn out properly... It definately needs a longer cooking time. My friend thought it was a no-bake cheesecake until I corrected him. He said the flavour is there, but definately needs to be cooked longer.

Angel Food Cake III

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2003
I just finished making this cake.. it smells wonderful and hope it tastes that way too! I think the cooking time was a little long because after 30 minutes, it looked as thought it was done. After 40 minutes, I took it out and it was a little darker on top than it should have been. Might also depend on the oven as well. I will make this again, but will test it after 30 mins. I plan on making a strawberry trifle with this and making one that has a lemon topping. Mmm... mouth watering! :)

Shortbread Wheels

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2004
I have made shortbread time and time and time again. With this recipie, I have never had so much trouble. It would not roll out at all - I tried, it crumbled. Picked it back up, and it crumbled yet again. I even had someone else give this recipie a try and they had the same trouble. I will not make this again.

Apple Squares

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2004
I've made these several times now. They are always a big hit (had requests for them for certain functions). I put in more than the half cup of apple the recipie calls for and it's one of the best things you've tasted with apples and cinnamon!
