David's Yellow Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2012
I was looking for a scratch yellow cake recipe and found this one. After reading some of the reviews I decided to give it a try. I have never made a yellow cake from scratch before so I was a little nervous on how it would turn out. It was fabulous! So much better than boxed cake. I frosted it with some chocolate buttercream frosting that I also made from scratch. My husband could not stop raving about it and eating it!!!

Beef and Bow Ties Pasta

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2012
I was looking for something different to make with ground beef and stumbled across this recipe. Thought it looked good and easy so I decided to give it a try. I was not disappointed! It was delicious! I did have to make a couple of substitutions for ingredients I didn't have on hand and made a couple of additions. I didn't have any parmesan cheese or fresh basil so I used fresh grated mozarella and dried italian seasoning. I also used mini farfalle since I'm a huge fan of mini pasta. My husband and I like a bit of heat so I also added some red pepper flakes. I will definitely be making this over and over as it is so easy and fast to put together. I will use fresh grated parmesan the next time and decide which cheese I prefer.

Veronica's Hot Spinach, Artichoke and Chile Dip

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2012
I found this recipe while searching for a good spinach artichoke dip to make and I loved the idea of giving it some heat. I did make some variations and additions to it, but the base of the recipe was great. I did use a combo of mayo and sour cream as seen in other reviews. I substitued a fresh chopped serrano pepper for the canned chopped jalapenos and fresh chopped baby spinach instead of the frozen kind (which I hate). I also added a minced shallot and two minced garlic cloves. This dip was a huge hit and I will definitely be making it again!
