Sunday Cooking in Budapest...

I woke up this morning and i found two really hangover boy in the kitchen..

We went to a quick shopping (its not that simple on Sunday..),i looked over the meats and i decided we going to eat chicken and i also saw a few nice sausage, quickly organised the lunch in my head, grab the stuff we needed and go home..One of the guy said he is bored with potatoes as a side dish so i baked a really simple Serbian cornbread what i stuffed with feta cheese and big red peppers.A day ahead i made a coleslaw, that was getting ready in the fridge. But first i had to present something really quickly so they can wait until i finish the food.We bought sausages for baking, so i just put them in a pan with a tiny bit lard and i just coloured them around. That was the starter with some cabbage salad and some fresh i could continue my work in peace.I have this in my mind a long time ago.. i have to try chicken on a beer can, what i never did before. This sunny, cold sunday looked just right to do.I seasoned the chicken with some paprika powder -of course- and lemon pepper, rubbed in with some oil and let it rest on room temperature for half n hour.I washed the beer, opened it and i placed the chicken on top,it was really easy to do.When the bread was ready i could put the bird finally in the owen,it fit just right but i could not bake nothing next to it.For half an hour it was silent, after the owen sounded someone bombing inside. What was that?
Also really strange the beer was almost full when i finished baking..i did something wrong? But the chicken came out really nice and juicy but less beer taste than we expected..Also i did a really old trick what i am using when ever i make chicken..i cut out the fat from the back of the bird and melt in a pan,it becomes fluid and i just pour over the chicken. It sticks on immediatly and becomes much more crispy at the end.

We had a big lunch,we all went really quiet...

Few hour -resting,cleaning,watching,resting- episode later i figured out we all deserve some nice dessert.
The problem, what i have here the oven.It is really old,gas one what is basically burns down every modern grandma knew(she have now a new nice oven..she is a modern one)how to bake in these, but i had never made anything good in it.Ok, i thought recipes what i don't have to bake and i came up with a traditional hungarian one.It contains poppy seeds what is difficult for you to get,but if anyone interested about this recipe, i love to share...this sweet need 'hangover' rolls or bread, we use kifli what is a boomerang form bakery. We making a vanilla sauce pour it on the chopped bakery add also cracked poppy seeds and just eat or bake a tiny bit.Its a simple,eggscelent..recipe.So i think im done for today i was also serving all day some day-boarder tea(we call it like that, its cheap black tea with a lots of water lots of sugar and fake lemon juice....)to keep everyone alive.
It's been a nice sunday.

About Me
I use to have a cooking show, making munchies and funny stuffs, i really enjoyed it.I'm learning every day, sometimes i work in restaurants but i prefer private cooking.I love making people happy around me with my food, and i also love my stomach...Im trying to taste around the world,go after flavors all the time.I'm baking a lots of American cakes, cookies trying to show the people here how good it is.I am really interested about how and what people eat,i search and read a lot about this.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Everything comes from my grandmother she got the the best taste around me,i'm trying to get her secrets but its not easy.I'm hungarian and we eat our food, but my family has a mixture with foods all around.
My cooking triumphs
I think i make the best chocolate chip cookie in town.
My cooking tragedies
Usually i screw up the most simple idea why. I seriously can get lost in calculation..
