Pot Roast in Beer

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2004
I loved this recipe. I used a dutch oven and baked it instead at 300F for about 3 hours and when it was done the meat just fell apart and was so tender.

Pork Chops with Apple Cider Glaze

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2012
Very good, tangy flavor. When I think of a glaze I usually like a sticky, almost crispy coating, this didn't cook down and coat the pork chops like a glaze would. But all in all very simple and great taste!

Lime Pineapple Jam

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2012
I used fresh pineapple straight from the Dole Plantation in Hawaii so I did not want to cook it down for 40minutes and risk losing that fresh flavor so I added one pouch liquid pectin and reduced cooking time to just long enough to reach a rolling boil, then added my sugar, let it reach a rolling boil again (a boil that cant be stirred down) for one minute. It set up just fine and turned out wonderful. My second batch I added a teaspoon of coconut extract, it tastes like a pina colada in a jar!

Strawberry-Rhubarb Jam

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2011
Very easy and nice balance of flavors. Made two batches and ran out of white sugar after only 5 cups on the second batch so I used raw cane sugar for substitution for the additional 5 cups which gave it a nice caramel flavor that i added a few dashes of cinnamon in with it. The second batch turned out so yummy!

Quick Vanilla Frosting

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2012
Never set up even when adding a third egg white and beating for over ten minutes. Very bland flavor. Will not make again.

Rhubarb Muffins

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2012
Wonderful recipe, I used fresh rhubarb and substituted vanilla yogurt for strawberry yogurt. I also doubled the recipe and it turned out fine. Only suggestion would be to not overfill the muffin cups or the muffins will not rise to a nice domed top. Thanks!

Banana Sour Cream Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2003
This was the first time to try this recipe, I got started and realized I only had half a tub of sour cream so I added about 3/4 cup of heavy cream. I don't know if that made a huge difference but the bread was amazing, almost cakelike. Will definitely make again, did have to increase bake time about 15 minutes. Thank You for the wonderful recipe!

Cheddar Bay Biscuits

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2012
Very good, tried to use garlic and onion salt together as a substitute for the other ingredients, but wound up too salty (even though I did omit regular salt from recipe). Will make again, good recipe that complimented our dinner and nice change of pace from our usual Bisquick recipe biscuits! Thanks.

Blueberry Crumb Bars

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2012
Very adaptable to fruit on hand. I had fresh strawberries and rhubarb so I measured 3 cups strawberries to 1 cup rhubarb for the fruit. I also used half cup shortening and half cup butter for extra flavor. Great recipe. Thanks@

German Chocolate Cake III

Reviewed: May 30, 2005
Very good recipe, I will make it again. Next time I will halve it because our family of four didn't finish half of it, but for a party it is a good size. I substituted 1 cup half and half plus 2 Tbs. lemon juice for the buttermilk because I didn't have any on hand, it turned out great. Thanks!

Great Pumpkin Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2004
Good cake like cookies. The oatmeal really took away from the pumpkin flavor so in the next batch I am going to add a little more pumpkin. We made a template of a ghost and a bat and shook powdered sugar over the cookies when we pulled them out of the oven, they turned out cute.
