About this Cook
I enjoy cooking for the one I love. It's fun to create new things and watch that person enjoy them fully. The display, aroma, texture, taste... it should all be there. I aim to portray all this and much more...after all, you can't be a good cook without love in your heart. Love is motivation.
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy baking ALLOT. I love making Lemon Merengue Pie, oatmeal raisin cookies, cakes, etc. Aside from that, I love making crepes and French toast. It's taken many years, but I think I've finally perfected these items. I've discovered, It takes more than just dumb luck... it takes good cooking ware and patience. LOTS of patience.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I don't have any favorite family cooking traditions.... we never got along. well, wait... there is one. And that's watching my grandma grind the spices she was going to use for a dish in a big, heavy, black mortar and pestle. The thing was so old, I mean... she'd had it for eons! It was really deep from all the use and it smelled of every spice she'd ever used. I loved watching her, learning how to get the taste from the garlic, and the cumin, and the chillies. That was fun.
My cooking triumphs
I made Abelskiver for the first time and they came out perfect! Finally, I found a way to like the taste of Guava paste... the cloves, nutmeg, and cinnamon make it bearable. I hate guavas, period. But this... this could work.
My cooking tragedies
Too many to name... I'd run out of space. But practice makes perfect, and I'm almost there, I must say... through many a trial and error... though I must say... more errors through trials than successes... ah, sweet youth... you do not do me well. I need more experience, I must say... and that only comes with time...and that takes sooo long.
