Turkey Veggie Meatloaf Cups

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2014
I gave this a 4 because as it's written, I think it would have been too bland. But i added a red and orange pepper and no onion or zuchinni bc it's what I had on hand. I LOVE that the turkey wasn't soaked in grease like beef meatloaf. I don't think I'll ever go back. Plenty moist and flavorful. I added salt and pepper and other seasonings and a teaspoon of garlic. We loved it this way. Great base recipe though, And couscous! Who would have thought?! It was a great addition.

Glazed Meatloaf II

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2013
This was very good if you like really sweet glaze. I measured my brown sugar on the light side, and it was just Almost too sweet, so next time I'll cut it down more. And I used 1 cup bread crumbs and put them in my muffin pan for maximum crust, but they didnt really crust up, and next time I'll definitely bake the glaze on the whole time, bc I waited 10 minutes, and it still didnt really cook on the way I prefer. And I used bread at the bottom and it stuck to my meatloaf when I pulled them out, so be careful about pushing the meat down if there's bread underneath. Will alter next time, but use as a guide. Less sugar, more Worcestershire and garlic.

Best Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2013
I followed directions very carefully, and whipped my sugar/butter for 20+ minutes, and it was totally grainy still. I cooked the flour mixture low for about 20 minutes. went ahead and finished it, and it tasted just like flour. with a hint of sugar. i have made flour frosting before, but that one used the sugar cooked with the flour and it tasted better and texture was better.

Bill's Sausage Gravy

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2013
I thought this was the most flavorful gravy I've ever made. My issue was, that paired with bisquick biscuits, it seemed really heavy. I know it's biscuits and gravy.... But it may have been the biscuit being too dense. I'm not a fan of bisquick, but thats all i had.I will try next time with canned biscuit dough, which I love, say what you will... But I will see if that makes it even better.

Salami, Cream Cheese, and Pepperoncini Roll-Ups

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2013
I made a batch with a half block of cream cheese, and 2 banana peppers, chopped, and mixed in, and spread on the salami slices. I thought it was very good. But after 1 or 2, it was getting pretty rich...But, when I tried it on a cracker it was AMAZING! Next time I'm going to chop up the salmi an mix it in too and serve it as a dip with crackers. The slight sweetness from a townhouse cracker balanced it out SO WELL! Try it! As a dip, I'd give 10 stars. But the recipe as is, tasty, but a little rich for me.

Cinnamon Rolls III

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2013
Ok, I made the clone of a Cinnabon first. I thought they were awesome, but they were dryer and a little harder than cinnabons. I went ahead and tried this one, even though I didn't like the pudding idea, just bc I wanted totally scratch ingredients, and I don't usually have pudding. However, I will buy some from now on just in case I want these. I couldn't believe how soft and fluffy they were! It made the others seem like biscuits in comparison. But I did use a stick and a half of margarine mixed with filling ingredients, and it came out perfect! I also didnt make the frosting, bc I thought 'clone' frosting was perfect, and many said they preferred it. So I will make this recipe's dough with that frosting and my own mix of filling. But as dough goes, it was as soft as dough can be. Try it!

Awesome and Easy Creamy Corn Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2013
This is the same recipe I've made for years, and am asked to bring it to every gathering. BUT I add a pinch of salt, dash of pepper, 8 drops of Tobasco, and a Tablespoon or so of sugar, and sometimes add shredded cheddar to the top the last 10 minutes. It's great as written, but the additions give that something extra that stands out. I'll just say: one time there were 4 pans of corn casserole at a reunion, and people asked which one i made, and I always make a double batch, and there is never any left. The pickiest of eaters loved it, and literally Everytime I take it somewhere, people ask for the recipe. I discovered this in my early 20s, and my grandmother, great aunt, mom, mom-in-law, sister-in-law, aunts have all asked for the recipe, and despite it being so simple, having a signature dish that my elders loved so much, made me feel very proud. Even though they have the recipe, they still ask me to make it, Bc its 'my recipe' . And its so forgiving and so easy! This recipe will always have a special place in my heart.

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2013
This cookie dough was probably the best I ever made... BUT, I followed directions very closely, and am an experienced baker, and my cookies were so flat, that I could barely lift them without it breaking, and I tried a cookie sheet with and without parchment, baking stone, frozen dough, cold pans, and it didnt matter. Maybe I measured my flour a little too lightly... But the taste is exceptional! I was actually eating the cookie around the chocolate chips....and 2 cups of chips seems crazy to me! I thought there was more than enough with 1 cup! Glad I read reviews first... I would probably try again and see if I have better luck.

Quick and Easy Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2013
I had to use part butter part margarine, but it was good. A little salty by itself, but good for flavoring the noodles and broccoli. I guess I don't eat the sauce by itself anyway, except for tasting. Lol.mine looked clumpy until milk was in, but thinned out beautifully. I did low- medium until the milk was added, then turned to low, stirring occasionally, and it thickened a little, then turned off heat, and just left it on the burner, and it has a great consistency. Will make again.

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2013
I thought this recipe was amazing, but there were a few things I didn't think we're like Cinnabon, the lack of filling, and the dough was a little dry/ hard. But I thought they were amazing, BUT then I tried Cinnamon rolls III... And they were infinitely lighter and softer and fluffier.but I kept this frosting, as this was perfect to me, and theirs seemed too high on the cheese. So I'll use their dough and this frosting and my own filling.

Finnish Kropser (Baked Pancakes)

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2013
I thought this tasted almost like a fortune cookie, but more eggy. The texture was a bit like French toast inside, without the crust. This crust was a bit rubbery, and hard to cut. But it was rich and interesting. I've never had anything quite like it, but I'm not sure if it's something I would make again or not.

Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2013
I made this for my son's birthday party, and almost everyone who went asked for the recipe! I used Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ, and before the last hour was up, shredded the chicken and it absorbs so much more sauce. At first I thought it was too runny, but after doing this, it came out perfect! I love how simple it is! And leftovers, if you have any, are amazing. My husband had me make this twice the first week I tried it. I will keep this recipe forever. And easy to adjust with different flavored dressings and BBQ sauces. I've found it's very forgiving for substituting. TRY IT!!!! Nobody could believe how simple it is! Put it in, and come back the last hour to shred and enjoy!

Candied Apples II

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2012
Wow! I have never made candy apples before, and they came out perfect when i cookedto 300 degrees. The coating tastes like cotton candy, but not too sweet. yum. The only thing, is it does set extremely fast! I definitely recommend using another pot of boiling water underneath to keep it from seizing up before you get your apples done. My last couple apples have big globs of thick sugar on some sides, and strings of sugar, but they still taste great, but not as perfect looking as the first 6 looked while it was still hot,een though i dipped fast. I added the food coloring at the hard ball stage and let the boiling mix it in on its own, and used 14 drops as someone else suggested. And if you have extra mixture, scrape it out with a silicone spatula onto the parchment and break it up into hard candy. Definitely will make again. Wonderful.

Roasted Brussels Sprouts

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2012
i actually created an account just to comment on how awesome these were. i have never had brussel sprouts before, but i kept picking them off the pan when i went to shake them, eating the fallen leaves. even my incredibly picky 5 year old liked the crunchy darkest parts. i do suggest cutting in half. We thought they tasted similar to french fried onions. wonderful! try it
