Kevin's Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: May 8, 2013
This was a half-win in our home. Half liked, half not. I'm on the fence. I will say that it stayed mostly soft and tender. I'm a killer of chicken...almost always dry it out. I marinated all day, and made enough to cover chicken fully rather than add water. Flavor was mild, not very strong. Probably won't make again; but thank you for the recipe.

Meatball Sandwich

Reviewed: May 4, 2013
Very good. I didn't have baguette bread but did on gourmet dinner rolls. Next time will do on baguette; it does need the sturdier bread. My kids loved loved loved it! Thank you for the recipe. The only suggestion I would make (and its obvious), you might want to add salt and pepper.

Sour Cream Coffee Cake III

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2013
I thought it would be moister with the sour cream. It wasn't. Flavor almost non-existent except for the crumble. I even tried adding cinnamon, nutmeg and a touch of cardamom to the batter, still wasn't good enough. Most likely will not make again.

Cinnamon Coffee Cake II

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2013
Not really impressed for the reviews it had. Did follow directions with everything it had, even using the butterscotch & vanilla flavors. Flavor was ok, maybe instead of doing a layer in the middle it should be swirled. Texture I didn't like so much, it was ok with moisture, but still a tad dry. I did in a 9x13, but maybe it should have been done in a Bundt.

Chicken Enchilada Casserole II

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2012
This was pretty good, my husband said I could make again. I used half the amount of sour cream & salsa; my kids don't tend to like recipes that call for them, but I wanted to to try it. I used homemade chili; little confusing, because unless I'm mistaken, you don't typically "drain" chili, just beans right? I've never seen chili beans, just beans mixed with meat, you know, chili. So I assumed chili and I did not drain. I also did not use quite so much cheese, just enough for a thin layer each time. I liked it, and two of my kids liked it. One didn't, and the other two didn't try. Thanks for a good recipe, I will definitely make again.

Mom's Baked Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2012
This is ok. As is, I would not make again. I took suggestions of others, and added an extra can of soup, and half cup of milk. I used about 32 oz of dry pasta. Not sure how much cheese I used, might not have been enough. I used salt, pepper, onion, garlic and paprika and it wasn't enough flavor, app half teaspoon of each. I also added a crispy ritz cracker/shredded cheese/parmesan cheese topping. When I get seasonings right, I will like more. I tried this recipe because macaroni and cheese is my all time favorite comfort food, and I've always wanted to make a homemade version, but mostly it just isn't cost effective for my family size. This kind of bridged the gap, and was the first recipe I could use a canned item that my kids didn't refuse. Thanks for the recipe, I'm sure with tweaks we will use again - oh and btw, I do have to say my kids had a different opinion - they really did love this recipe.

Cheesy Ranch Potato Bake

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2012
Really enjoyed, but then I love potatoes. Should have read a few reviews first...did not need as much butter, if any, as others have mentioned. If you use a little Pam before, should keep them from sticking, and when you add the ranch and cheese, it will keep them creamy enough to not stick. Taste is great, especially if you like Ranch and cheese, of course. Not sure if the chili powder offered anything, or maybe it wasn't enough. Next time will add further spices to perk it up more. Thanks for a keeper!

Chocolate Chip Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2012
These are pretty good. My daughter LOVES them, but that might be because this was her first time making muffins (starting small here! :) ) They are kid-friendly and easy to make. For my preference, they are slightly dry; you have to drink something with them. Love the crustiness to the top from the cinnamon sugar. Thank you for a recipe that I am sure we will be making again!

Bread Pudding II

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2012
Good recipe, I think. I had never had bread pudding prior to this recipe; I have wanted to try forever, but I was disappointed. I do not like bread pudding, I think. But my family did...I doubled recipe for a 9x13, and it was completely eaten. It did take a couple of days, so I know it wasn't a favorite, but to be honest it must have been good. Thank you, ellenmarie, for the recipe. :)

Best Ever Blueberry Cobbler

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2012
Excellent cobbler! I doubled recipe to fit a 9x13 pan. I used brown sugar in the berry mixture, white sugar in the crust mixture. I don't think I used quite 6 cups of berries...just was using up the rest of a 2lb pkg of blueberries; I think it was 3/4 full, so whatever that works out to. Also used a tbs of vanilla instead of a tsp. And I added a few shakes of cinnamon & nutmeg to the berries, and sprinkled a thin layer of cinnamon sugar over the top of the crust. I had enough crust mixture to cover the berries; I dropped by tsp's vs tbs's. I expected to bake a bit longer but mine took 33 minutes; I don't know if that was because I had a glass pan. The topping was different from other cobblers I've had; it was a smoother texture but it was light and crispy. The berries were perfect; just lightly sweet. Thanks for a keeper! Btw - my pan was gone within a couple hours!

Dessertlover's Classic Caramel Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2012
This tastes really good; mine was on the thin side, I expected it to thicken after a night in the frig. It didn't really, only a little. I made per recipe; I may go ahead and try as other reviewers posted and add butter later. Thank you.

Chocolate Syrup

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2012
This does taste just like Hershey's syrup. I had no idea it was so simple to make. Thank you - this is great! I'm gonna try adding fruit flavors, and/or less sugar or dark cocoa for a more bittersweet flavor.

Vanilla Ice Cream V

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2012
This was good; it was a light vanilla taste. I didn't let it stir long enough in my ice cream maker I think because although parts of it came out creamy I also had a bit of it which had more of an ice milk consistency. I'm a bit of a beginner at making ice cream, so I'll try again, I am looking for a just a tad richer and creamier ice cream.

Turkey Burgers

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2012
This was a simple but quite good recipe - thank you. I made a homemade onion mix from this site, scaled because I used 3lbs of turkey meat. Did not add salt, because there is enough in the mix, and I didn't even use a half cup water with my 3lbs - I think there is too much water in this recipe. I added everything together, and just added a little water at a time to make sure it did not get too soggy to form patties. I made these on a Cuisinart Griddler and they were done in about 8-9 minutes using as a contact grill. MY KIDS LOVED LOVED LOVED these burgers, and I was surprised because there was a quite the onion taste, but they are begging for more - so I will use definitely again. Thank you!

Bread Machine Calzone

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2012
This was a good recipe; I didn't have powdered milk so I used 1 cup milk in place of it and the rest water. I added garlic, onion, and Italian seasonings to the dough to add flavor. I did my own filling of breakfast sausage, bacon, pepperoni and salami with various cheeses and my pizza sauce. Was good, and I'll make again, but the dough was too wet, so I had to work with amounts of flour a bit. I had scaled for 8 servings, and had to add about 10 tbs flour, and ended up with 6 large calzones from it.

Buttermilk Pound Cake II

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2012
This was ok. I followed directions exactly, except using almond extract because I didn't have the lemon extract. The crust was divine! Loved it! However, this made too much batter for my bundt, and I know it was a 9 or 10" and not any smaller. Totally overflowed. The flavor was good, not great, but definitely better than store-bought. But it was definitely a bit dry. I think I might do what another reviewer mentioned and add sour cream or maybe yogurt next time to see if it adds moisture. Thank you for the recipe.

Carrot Cake III

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2012
Really good carrot cake, according to my husband. :) All the kids devoured it, and he said it was one of the best he's had, and carrot cake happens to be one of his favorites. Only changes I made was to do half white/ half brown sugar, 3/4 cup olive oil, and 8 oz of crushed pineapple - and omit pecans due to preference. Thank you for a great recipe, I will be making again I am sure!

Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2012
Omg thank you for a fabulous, great, awesome recipe! These came out fudgy, chewy, crispy on the edges, and the perfect height. I followed directions exactly, except adding an extra 1/2 cup of chocolate chips. My 9x13 is glass, so I have to figure out the timing better, they were a bit overcooked on edges, undercooked in middle at 35 minutes. I turned down 20 degrees at that time after finding out that glass dishes should cook at a lower temp and I cooked prb about an add'l 10 minutes. But these will be a definite keeper! Thank you so much!

Red Velvet Cake I

Reviewed: May 30, 2012
This was ok - just average for me. I followed directions exactly, except subbing butter for shortening which I always do. I only used 1 oz color, because it was all that I had. My kids liked the cake; I found it ok. Not too sweet, which is a good thing, but it lacked something, I'm not sure what. The frosting tasted too buttery for me, but that could be just me; I'm not a buttercream frosting person so maybe that's why I don't like this frosting. It was fairly runny, I ended up not using the complete milk mixture, only about half or slightly over. However, once the cake was in the refrigerator, it did firm up. I might try this again, I'm not sure, but I will for sure adjust cocoa or sugar, and prb a different frosting.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Squares

Reviewed: May 29, 2012
These taste five-star; however, they were not so easy to make per instructions. I did read various reviews, but decided to follow recipe exactly first time. Only change was not to do as much butter with the chocolate chips; I actually didn't have enough chocolate topping so I quickly threw a bit more chips in the microwave and melted w/o butter - was actually easier to spread than the first batch that contained butter. However, mixing the other stuff together in the melted butter was difficult - oh and actually I did warm the peanut butter up a bit since I could see it was going to be difficult. So I think next time I will put dry ingredients together and melt PB and butter together then combine, as another reviewer mentioned. I also think as is, it needs more of a chocolate top and less of the graham/PB bottom. So will tweak to find my balance, but I will definitely make again....and again....and again! I thank you for the recipe but then I don't...sometimes feeding your addiction isn't always a good think! No really, thank you though! :)
