Dark Chocolate Cake I

Perfect! I heard that it turns out more moist when crisco is used. So I used 1 cup of butter flavored Crisco plus 6 Tbsp of water in place of butter. It turned out so moist and yummy! Also, I read comments that the cake stuck to the pan really bad. I made cupcakes with this recipe using the paper liners sprayed with cooking spray. They didn't stick at all. This made 36 regular sized cupcakes. I used the muffin pan of 12 count, and baked at 22 minutes.

Millionaire's Cake

Great cake! So yummy. I made this cake on a cold January day, and the cake made me feel like I was on a sunny, warm, beach somewhere. I changed the cake up by using pineapple cake mix instead of yellow cake mix. I also used coconut creme pudding mix instead of vanilla pudding mix. Also, the recipes calls for only half the cake batter to be used. I really agree with this. Don't use all the cake batter, because I think it would take away from the flavor of the cake. Soooo good! I can't stop eating it. I was going to take it to work to share with everyone, but I think this one is staying with me.

Shrimp Lemon Pepper Linguini

WOW, Awesome! My hubby said he felt like he was eating at olive Garden :) I've made this 3 times, and it always turns out great. Really flavorful. I'm thinking I might use a small lemon next time. The lemon flavor could be turned down a notch. I also read a review about doubling the sauce. That's a GREAT idea for this recipe. Either way it's great. I am thinking about making this for my vegitarian friend. I'll just leave out the shrimp for her. You have to try this recipe!!!

Grandma's Peach French Toast

I didn't let this recipe sit in the fridge overnight. I just baked it as soon as I was done putting everything together. It was still pretty darn good, quick and easy to make. I didn't have peaches so I used some mcintosh apples. I also only used regular whole grain wheat bread. This is a great alternative to cereal or regular french toast for breakfast. Me and my 19 mth old son ate over half the pan in one sitting!!!

Hot Artichoke and Spinach Dip II

OMG! This is a favorite at my house. I make it exactly like the recipe calls, except I add a bit of extra garlic. If you have a hard time finding the right cheeses you can try any of these: italian cheese blend, mozarella, and parmesan. The wal-mart I shop at never has a good selection of cheese, and I usually end up with a variation of those three. YUMMY, YUMMY! Watch out, because you can easily eat this in one sitting!

To Die For Fettuccini Alfredo

Pretty good. Unfortunatly Wal-Mart here didn't sell any romano cheese!!! So I just used an itallian mixture of shredded cheese. It had Romano, parmesan, and asagio cheeses in it. This recipe tasted like it was missing something. But it came out really smooth, which is great compared to other recipes. Oh, and it took a really long time for the cream to start simmering. After about 40 minutes of stirring I got impatient, and turned the heat up to med-high. I'm thinking about using straight parmesan and some garlic next time. I wonder if that will work....

Best Ever Pie Crust

Pretty darn good. I read some of the reviews that only gave this crust one star. They said it was hard to work with, but the solution is flour and patience my friend. That is the trick to great, flaky pie crust. Just take time rolling it out, and sprinkle a little flour on the dough if it starts sticking to the rolling pin or ripping. Make sure you sprinkle the working surface with flour too. It says refrigerate for 4 hours, but I just usually stick it in the freezer for a half an hour. Well, good luck. ***Oh, and I kind of think that all the Crisco isn't so healthy, but hey, we all deserve to indulge once in a while.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

This pie was ok. Nothing special. My expectations were high becuase of all the ratings. I was going to give it one star, but the pie is much better the second or third day. It was horrible right out of the oven. The carmael stuff on top of the lattice work just turned really crispy and hard, and it didn't taste that great. But for some reason it softened up after the first night, and made the pie more edible. If you like traditional apple pie then this isn't for you. ***Oh, and if you do make Granny Ople's pie this then make sure you put a cookie sheet at the bottom of the oven. The pie drips when it cooks.

Russian Tea Cakes I

Really yummy! These are just like I remember from when I was a little girl. Don't make the cookies too big. They are yummier when they are the recommended 1 inch. And I rolled them in powdered sugar twice.

Scrumptious Salisbury Steak in Mushroom Gravy

This was good. But not 5 stars good. The other reviews said the gravy didn't come out very thick. Mine did. So I suggest following this recipe for the grvy. My boyfriend LOVED this meal. So I'll make it again. I think next time I will try making the patties a little more thin. They had too much of a "hamburger" taste. I felt like I was eating hamburgers with gravy.

Basic Crepes

Perfect, easy, yummy. These are just like the crepes my Mom would make every Sunday morning. We add "different" fillings to our crepes........sour cream in the middle, and top them with syrup. YUMMY! If you like sour cream then you gotta try this.

Garlic Linguine

Overkill on the Basil! Next time (if there is a next time) I'll only add 1tsp of Basil. Other than that it was pretty easy to make. Oh, and I'd add some extra olive oil. It came out a bit dry.

Cheese and Artichoke Fondue

This was a success for my first fondue ever. The texture came out perfect. Everyone enjoyed it. I served it with apples, bread, carrots, mushrooms, broccoli, and cauliflower. The apples were everyone's favorite. It was missing something. I couldn't pinpoint it. It was a little plain tasting.

Joey's Peanut Butter Cookies

These were very yummy. I made everything exactly as the recipe states, and they turned out great. HINT... I rolled the cookies in sugar. AND YES, as others have stated the dough is very soft, and hard to roll into balls, but it's do-able. They turn out yummy, and soft in the middle. Good cookies I will make again.

Mississippi Mud Pie II

This recipe was pretty easy, and yummy. If you are inexperienced with whipping cream (as I was) make sure that you buy unpasteurized, unhomogenized whipping cream. It is easier to whip than pasteurized or pasteurized & homogenized. Try to make sure the cream is very cold when you start to whip it, and keep it as cold as possible while whipping it. When it is too warm it churns (like making butter) instead of whips. Good luck.

Easy Manicotti Florentine

Easy to make, and very yummy. It was even really good as leftovers. The only problem I had with this recipe was stuffing the hard shells with the mixture. All my spoons were to big. It seems like maybe a baby spoon would be perfect. I used a pastry bag, and that worked out okay. Overall this is an outstanding recipe. I will make this many, many more times.
