Citrus Mint Cooler

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2008
This is a very refreshing drink. It is also very good with a little vodka.

Goulash Supreme

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2008
My husband and I really like this recipe. I like that is only uses one pan and it tastes good. I always use diced tomatoes instead of stewed. I also like the versatility of the recipe. I'll sometimes substitute chicken for beef and use a can of rotel, add some black beans and cheddar cheese and have a tex-mex dish. Or, use sausage, penne pasta, and Italian seasoning for an Italian dish.

Jo's Rosemary Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2008
This bread is glorious. I used the dough setting on my bread machine, and it made a lovely round loaf of fragrant bread. I omitted the black pepper and never missed it. I will be making this frequently.

Scalloped Cabbage with Ham and Cheese

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2008
I wasn't sure about this recipe when I tried it. I've never had cheese with cabbage. But, it was clean out the fridge day and this worked well. I used smoked sausage instead of ham and added frozen green beans and carrots. I was pleasantly surprised--it was kind of addicting. I might have to make this again.

Fabulous Homemade Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2008
This bread was perfect. I don't have a mixer, so I made it by kneading. I was afraid it would be too sweet, but it was wonderful. I didn't have quick cooking oats, so I used regular (without grinding them like others have) and I couldn't tell a difference. This bread has great texture and crust. I will be making this bread weekly.

Mouse's Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2008
This is my new favorite recipe. Like others I used cheddar instead of American cheese. I also used white pepper instead of black and added garlic powder.

Premium Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2008
Wow, this is the best pizza crust I have ever made. I have been on a decade long search for the perfect crust and I have finally found it. The other crust recipes on this site taste more like bread and not a real crust. This recipe was crunchy on the outside and chewy soft inside and the perfect hight--not too doughy. Using the sponge method, I didn't have to add any more flour like other reviewers. I did add more salt and some garlic powder. I used half of the dough to make cheesy bread sticks and the other half to make pizza. My husband, after eating a piece, asked if we could have pizza again the next night. Definitely a keeper.

Oven Fried Parmesan Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2008
This was really yummy. I used only 2T butter for the four pieces of chicken I made and I thought that was plenty.

Asian Coconut Rice

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2008
We loved this. I made it to go with Thai green curry chicken (jar from Trader Joe's) and it was perfect. I used regular long grain rice and had none of the problems others had with the rice being sticky or underdone. Will definitely make again.

Kielbasa and Cabbage

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2008
I thought this was just ok but my husband seemed to like it. It was much better the next day when I added salt and garlic powder. If I make it again, I'll add those in the beginning.

Cajun Skillet Surprise

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2008
We really like this. I used frozen gumbo mix vegetables instead of zucchini and some of the peppers. I was worried it would be too salty with the onion soup mix, but the gravy was perfect. I'll definitely be making this again.

Ham and Cheese Quiche

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2008
I was surprised at how good this turned out. I used deli sliced ham, fresh mushrooms, and fat-free evaporated milk. I think it could have used more egg/milk though--the pie seemed a bit thin.

Tropical Baked Bananas

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2008
This was much better than I had expected--the thought of warm bananas was a turn off. I had some bananas I wanted to use up and was tired of my usual methods. This turned out wonderful. I, like others, simply sprinkled the sugar and butter on top (I decreased the amount of sugar). Instead of orange juice I added a peeled and sliced fresh orange (I think pineaple would be a good addition as well). Very good over vanilla ice cream.

Russian Green Bean and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2008
I've been making this recipe for years. I love the unusual combination of flavors. I add a full can of sauerkraut (I never know what to do with what is left over anyway) and to make this a soup for my meat eating husband, I added sliced smoked sausage. It goes really well with rye bread--especially if you make croûtons to put in the soup.

Persian Shish Kabob

I love this marinade. The lime flavor is so nice in the summertime. I often use half lime and half lemon juice and add a shake or two of habenero sauce to make it spicy.

Sage Pork Chops

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2007
I don't really care for pork chops--they are usually dry and chewy. These turned out perfect. I did increase the amount of seasoning on each chop. They were fork tender and delicious.

Morning Glory Muffins II

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2007
These muffins are FANTASTIC! I did change it slightly for personal taste--all whole wheat flour, apple sauce instead of oil, raisins and walnuts for dates and pecans. I diced the apple because I wanted the texture. Next time I'm going to add oatmeal. This is a moist and flavorful breakfast treat!

Spiced-Up Grilled Tater Wedges

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2007
I was looking for a way to cook potatoes on the grill that did not involve a foil packet and this fit the bill. My husband and I were pleased with this recipe and the mix of spices. I did not boil to potatoes first and instead microwaved them (I wanted to keep the kitchen cool). They turned out perfect. We ate ours with ranch dressing.
