Michigan born, Texas grown with Oregon roots that I came back to at 18 and never left! Would be fourth generation if I had been born here and it's in my blood for sure! My grandchildren are 6th generation thanks to their father and family!
My favorite things to cook
I just love to cook. Anything and everything! With my southern upbringing I like spicy,hot and also grilled. My mixed European heritage also influences what I like to eat. Since I have spent the last 30 years on the Oregon coast I also like certain fish and seafood indulgences.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Comfort food my mom used to make. Mostly she cooked to stretch the budget as she was a single mom of five children. My grandparents owned a restaurant and though Grandpa was the cook, Grandma was the baker. I think I got a mixture of both their genes!
My cooking triumphs
Not to be a braggart, but there have been too many to count! From this site though it has been the Apple Cranberry Stuffed Pork Chops.
My cooking tragedies
The first meatloaf I made at 16. I had no recipe and no one around to ask for help. There was also a pot roast I used a Better than Bouillon flavoring that I had never used before and misread the directions. i added a tablespoon instead of a teaspoon and it was way to salty to eat :P
