Garlic Bread Fantastique

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2004
Very good. I tried to spread this over 2 baguettes, and while I got good coverage, the final product would have been much more moist had I stuck to one roll. We also thought that mozzerella or a pizza cheese mixture would have been nice rather than the parmesan.

Cinnamon Rolls III

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2004
Incredibly good. Very light. I made the following changes - partly b/c I didn't have everything on hand, partly b/c I wanted the machine to make the dough overnight. I used dry buttermilk powder, adding the required water w/the wet ingred., and the powder with the dry ingred., so I didn't have milk sitting out all night. I used a custard mix, rather than pudding (NOT instant), because I just didn't have any instant vanilla. I used almond extract instead of vanilla and only made 1/2 the frosting (so the rolls wouldn't be swimming in it), it was tight, but each roll got frosting - and it's pretty potent stuff. I was worried the dough wouldn't work b/c of the changes - but I had no problems. I can't imagine they could have turned out any better.

Spinach Lasagna III

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2004
Very, very good. I added more spinach (this from a vegetable HATER), and it needed more sauce. I spiced it up a bit by adding red pepper flakes to the cheese/spinach mixture. It worked well to make the dish more appealing to my Indian in-laws who are used to very spicy food.

Beer Cheese Pretzel and Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2004
Very, very good - but not really pretzel-like. More of a warm bread and dip, but still definitely worth making and eating. You'll need to add flour during the kneading & shaping process, which isn't mentioned in the recipe. I added a few drops of red food coloring to my kosher salt and shaped the dough into linked hearts for a valentine's effect. It was big hit with my friends!

Simple Whole Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2004
Fantastic! We originally froze one loaf & gave the 3rd away thinking we'd never go through 3 loaves in time -- big mistake! After using the frozen load (it freezes great BTW), I had to make a 2nd batch within a week! My husband loves it, and he's usually a strict white bread eater.

Salsa Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2004
Awesome. Flavorful, moist, and smelled great while cooking. I served it with rice & refried black beans. One note if you're watching fat/calories - it doesn't even need the cheese. Will absolutely make again!

Pumpkin Fluff Dip

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2004
Very bland as written. I intended to halve the recipe, but ended up adding all of the pumpkin & pudding mix, and 3 or 4 teaspoons of spice. It was good with the graham cracker sticks & with pretzels, but not a big hit.

Mama's Cornbread and Sausage Turkey Dressing

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2004
It was good, but nothing special. I halved the recipe and had enough for an 11 x 17 pan. It is a 2 day effort (because of cornbread). I did not agree that spices were too heavy. Also, I used Brownberry Sage & Onion stuffing cubes rather than bread crumbs. True bread crumbs would have really made mush.

Thick Cut-Outs

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2003
Excellent cookies -- got lots of compliments. Also very easy to work with for the rolling/cut-out impaired baker (ME!). I added almond extract for extra flavor, and intend to use peppermint extract for Christmas cookies.

Granny Kat's Pumpkin Roll

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2003
Very good & pretty easy to do. Will be nice for entertaining. Next time I will double the spices for more flavor.

Debdoozie's Blue Ribbon Chili

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2003
Really, really good. I thought the recipe looked too simple to be good, but tried anyway. Only used 3 T of chili powder (ran out), but it still had a decent kick too it. Only downside is it was too spicy for the kids.
