Meatball Nirvana

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2015
My family thought it was a little spicy so I guess I'd cut down the red pepper flake just a little. I added some minced garlic and used ground turkey instead of beef and almond milk instead of regular milk because that's what I had. I thought they were flavorful and delicious with a little kick. I plan to make them again.

Sloppy Joes II

Came out pretty similar to manwich, though slightly sweeter. Very easy. Great recipe!

Gingerbread Men

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2014
My dough was sticky and a little difficult to work with so I thought it wouldn't come out right. To my pleasant surprise it came out perfectly. I even made some simple icing to top them with (powdered sugar and milk). The cookies have the heat and aroma of ginger but isn't too spicy. I don't even usually like gingerbread. Great recipe!

Double Layer Pumpkin Cheesecake

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2014
Nice to find a cheesecake that doesn't require a springform pan! I increased the amount everything by a little bit because I had a 10 inch pie crust and I wanted it to be quite full. It came out well. The texture of my filling was slightly grainy but had a great taste. Make sure to soften the cream cheese completely so it mixes up well. The top cracked a bit, but when it was cool it looked pretty nice. The bottom layer is pretty short, I'd like to get the ratio more to half and half for a nice visual.

City Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2014
My husband loved this and of the 30 or so recipes i've made from allrecipes so far, he said that this one is his favorite. I was skeptical the whole time but it came out well. Hubby says this tastes like shake n' bake pork chops smothered with gravy. The only thing I did differently was use fresh garlic and onion to add to the gravy which ended up making it a little lumpy. Next time I'll use powdered onion and garlic as I see some have suggested.

I only used yellow mustard and left off the olives. They came out great.

Banoffee

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2014
It was delicious. The only issue that I had was that it seemed like WAY too much butter. I only needed about half of that. Like many of you I was afraid to boil the can for fear it would blow up. It didn't. However, perhaps I didn't let it cool long enough because when I started to open it with the can opener some of the hot toffee squirted out. Thankfully it didn't hit any skin!

Easy Batter Fruit Cobbler

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2014
This is clearly the easiest cobbler I've seen. It tasted pretty good too. My problem was really the texture and appearance. It wasn't so pretty.

Fudgy Chocolate Chip Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2014
They came out alright. Sweet and certainly edible. They had an awful lot of chocolate chips for how much batter there is. It made exactly 12 muffins for me. They were short but fully cooked. I cooked them for 22-23 minutes and rotated the pan once halfway through. It just didn't satisfy my craving for a chocolate chip muffin. It tasted like a "healthy" brownie.

Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2014
It's very sweet and rich. It definitely has the texture of pecan pie but it tastes mostly like chocolate. I was afraid of the alcohol taste that some people reported so I halved the bourbon. But, it must have cooked the alcohol off because I didn't taste it. If you're looking for pecan pie this might not satisfy you, it's more of a chocolate pie. But served over ice cream it's delicious anyway. It made two shorter pies for me I might have been able to squeeze most of it into one deep dish pie.

Janet's Rich Banana Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2013
I didn't change anything except that I substituted banana yogurt for sour cream and chocolate chips for the nuts. It's delicious. Dense and moist. The slices hold up pretty well too; not crumbly.

Scottley's Basic Yellow Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2013
The flavor was okay, but not exceptional. My major problem was that mine came out tough and a little dry. I didn't use cake flour however, and I realize that this may have been part of the problem. I may have overmixed it as well, but I really didn't mix it that much, perhaps slightly beyond when it came together. I made it into a layer cake because I saw that several other people had, however it cracked a bit. The best thing about this cake was that it was easy to frost, not all crumby and fragile on the outside like many cakes are. Also, it stuck to the pan a bit and I lost a chunk of one of the layers.

Broccoli Casserole III

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2011
I took the reviewers suggestion to precook the veggies. I used a broccoli and cauliflower mix. I doubled the amount of cheese. I didn't think for a second that my son would eat it, but he did. It helps that he loves Ritz crackers.

I used pinto beans instead, added chili sauce, italian seasoning, and 2 bay leaves. I halved the sugar. It was very tasty over rice.
