My first croquembouche!
Christmas Fairy Bread
About this Cook
I inherited my love of baking from my great-grandmother, who baked pies for local restaurants and delivered them with the help of her 13 children! Ironically, her daughter (my grandmother) can't bake at all, but is a wonderful cook, and her granddaughter (my mother) can't bake or cook! So, it seems we've come full cycle, although I'm not a fan of pie!
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake. It's like art you can eat! Cooking, on the other hand is not my favorite thing...although that may have more to do with trying to manage several hot burners while having a 1 and 3-year-old underfoot!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandfather makes 100's of galettes every Christmas. He uses a recipe for galettes his grandmother brought from Belgium, but for reasons unknown they have always been made on an Italian pizelle iron instead of a galette iron! :)
My cooking triumphs
I just finished my first croquembouche!
My cooking tragedies
The first thing I remember making was fudge when I was 12. It was so bad that I had to throw the saucepan and all in the backyard because it was smoking so badly! A few raccoons came by, sniffed, and high-tailed it away! To this day I receive fudge as a gag gift, although I now make fudge that my pastry chef brother-in-law is jealous of!

Key Lime Pie IX
It really is restaurant quality! I've been wanting a real key lime pie for ages and this was perfect! Juicing the individual limes was a pain, next time I'll just buy the bottle of key lime juice!

Microwave Oven Peanut Brittle
So easy! Perfect for the holidays, although I prefer to make cashew brittle.

Caramel Popcorn
This could save you a fortune in buying caramel corn....but cost you a fortune buying bigger pants! Seriously addictive and perfect for the holidays!
