Bourbon Whiskey BBQ Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2014
It is good, but not great. With theses additions, I would give it 5 stars: 1TBSP soy sauce, 1/2 tsp ginger, and 1 tsp dry mustard, and an extra tablespoon of brown sugar. Also, I could only stand it with half the smoke flavor added. I couldn't even imagine this with all the smoke flavor!

Greek Seasoning Blend

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2014
I was looking for something close to the blend at one of our favorite local restaurants, and this is wonderful! Put a few pinches of this on a plate, and add some olive oil, and swirl to mix together. Use as a dip or spread for some homemade crusty sourdough bread, and you have a treat!

Sourdough Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2014
My daughter said she wanted to eat the whole loaf! This made a delicious, crusty loaf. With that said, however, I would not recommend this for a novice bread baker. I have seen some comments about the consistency of the dough. How much water you need will depend on a few factors: how much moisture is in the flour, the humidity in the air, how hydrated your starter is, etc. You need to be able to judge these, and adjust accordingly. Also keep in mind that starter-raised loaves rise much more slowly. So if you want it more quickly, you will have to add more commercial yeast to the mix. I used the dough setting on my bread machine, and after it was mixed, I let the dough rise in the pan for about 30-40 minutes. Then, I used the bake setting on the machine to finish the bread. ( My whole wheat cycle was not long enough) If you baby this bread a little bit, you will be rewarded with a crusty, light and tasty loaf! Thanks for sharing, Mari!

Amish Hash Browns

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2014
I don't often rush to write a review right away, but this recipe is worth it! Delightfully brown and crisp. Beware, they will go quickly! I tweaked a little; I did not peel the potatoes, and I added some garlic powder and some pepper, and cut the added oil by one tablespoon. This is already in my recipe box!

Herb, Garlic and Bacon Pork Loin

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2014
Very good overall. I halved the amount of rosemary, using a 4 lb roast. As the roast was crisping under the broiler, I used the stock to make some delicious gravy! My oldest daughter complimented me on it, and she is not a big pork eater. Definitely a keeper! Update: Take the roast out of the oven at about 130 degrees F, then broil it, and it won't dry out. Also,I took a portion of the herbs, and rubbed them on the roast before draping the bacon over. Great stuff! Use the fresh herbs if you can, there really is no substitute.

Awesome Red Wine Pot Roast

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2013
Truly, this recipe is awesome! I made this last night, and my family loved it. The smell while it was in the oven was heavenly. I doubled the wine and water, since we are a gravy-loving family, and I added a bay leaf, and a vegetable bouillon cube. This is in my recipe box to stay!

Oven Pot Roast

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2013
Excellent, tender pot roast! And the smell of it cooking was enough to drive everyone crazy with anticipation. I doubled the gravy part, because my family is into gravy, but otherwise only added carrots and potatoes during the cooking. Definitely going in my recipe box!

Kikkoman Chinese Pepper Steak

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2013
I liked the ease of preparation of this dish. The taste was little on the sweet side for me, so I added two pinches of red pepper flakes to my portion. The red pepper balanced the sweetness nicely. I will make it again.

Thai Steamed Mussels

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2013
Awesome dish! I was looking for an excuse to do something with a Thai curry, and I came across this recipe. The heat is nicely balanced by the sweetness of the coconut milk, and you can adjust the spiciness to your liking, by varying the amount of curry paste. Great with steamed jasmine rice, or crunchy garlic toast. Definitely will make again!

Easy Beef Pot Pie

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2013
Very easy to make and tasty! I used Bisquik mix biscuit recipe for the crust instead of pastry, since I had it on hand. The whole family, including my picky 9 year old, devoured it!

Spicy Maryland Crab Dip

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2012
Awesome! Made this for the football game last night and got rave reviews! The only thing I might do is go easier on the Worcestershire sauce. I might cut it back by half a teaspoon. Other than that, delicious! Oh and I didn't have enough sour cream, so I substituted a quarter cup of plain yogurt, and I couldn't tell the difference.

Excellent recipe! I added about 1/2 cup red wine while it was simmering, and it came out wonderfully. My wife actually believed she was eating beef!
