Okra, Corn and Tomatoes

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2005
I didn't have file powder and I really don't know what it is or where to buy it. However, the food still turned out good by replacing it with 2 bouillion cubes of beef or chicken. Yummmmm.

Army SOS Creamed Ground Beef

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2004
Simple food, simply taste good... I added 2 cans of celery soup and I took the advice of other reviewers by adding minced galic, chopped onion, sliced mushrooms, a pinch of paprika and dried basil. Then added some more worchestershire for taste. Oh, one more thing...THIS MUST BE GOOD FOR BEEF CHIPS (instead of ground beef), then serve it over rice or noodles.

Emily's Famous Sloppy Joes

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2004
Even with the whole measurement of the chili powder, the meat is still bland, bland, bland... I had to put the whole can of a 12 oz. tomato paste, over 1 tsp. of salt, and add half a bottle of chili sauce just to make the taste right. It also dry... so I add more water, almost 1 cup. Just like one of the reviewer said, I just put 2 tbsp. of sugar.

Super Sloppy Joes

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2004
My small children and so as my husband likes it. Though I made a lot of changes, I still rate this as 5* as a basic recipe. I stir fried the vegetables separate from the beef. I drained out as much as fat as I could from the meat and then put it in the slow cooker with the vegetables. Since a lot of reviewers said that the sauce is bland, I added 1/2 cup of unsweetened barbeque sauce since I already put sugar in the sauce, 2-3 tbsp of vinegar/lemon juice, 2 tbsp worcestershire sauce, 2 tbsp steak sauce, 1 tsp paprika, 1/2 tsp pepper, 1/2 tsp salt and the mustard is 1 tbsp dijon mustard; and then pour the sauce over the meat in the slow cooker. For us, it came out great, however due to my curiosity I'll try with the chili sauce next time.

Slow Cooker Barbeque

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2004
It's good for a slow cooking. The best thing is the taste of the food is depends on us by putting your favorite bbq sauce. I did the same thing what most of the reviewers did, when I shred the meat I also drain the meat juice and replaced with another bottle of bbq sauce... For a start I used Jack Daniel's Whiskey Barbeque sauce. Then as for the 2nd bottle of sauce, well, I had several bbq sauce and we ended-up having bbq sauce tasting. I decided that I like the vinegar taste of one of the sauce and the smokey/ sweet taste of the other, so I mix them together and use it toward the end of cooking the food. It was great! It tasted just the way we like.

Cindy's Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2003
I just got interested into cooking, and this is my first pumpkin pie to make. Everybody who tried it they liked it and came back for more, specially my little children who asked me to cook for more. It's better than the ones we bought from store. Aside from using "Graham Craker Pie Crust" I followed the recipe exactly as it is with no problem. Make sure to use 3 cups (1 1/2 pints) of ice cream melted at room temperature to avoid having problem with your pie for being eggy, bubbly, or separating into layers.

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2003
We like our dressing moist, so I added more chicken broth when I mixed the chicken to the dressing. It was my first time to make Cornbread Dressing and it cook just perrrrfect to the taste of the pickiest man I know, and that's my father-in-law. Thanx Tara...this one made our Christmas dinner preparations a success
