Sweet Potato Pie II
About this Cook
I buy as much local food as possible. I think low-fat dairy products are a travesty. I'll still never say no to junk food. I write about it all at
My favorite things to cook
Filipino adobo, yeast breads, perfectly roast chicken. I like the challenge of making something with whatever came home with me from the Greenmarket that day.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandmother made the best lasagna in the world. I'll spend the rest of my life trying to duplicate it.
My cooking triumphs
Every loaf of bread I make. It continues to amaze me.
My cooking tragedies
Anything involving vegetarian "meat" products. Wow. That stuff was bad.

Honey-Balsamic Vinaigrette
Something about this dressing tasted very weak and flat to me. The oil/vinegar ratio was too low and left the dressing without any mouth feel. It also lacked a certain "zip" to it and would have been better with something pungent like mustard and/or garlic.

Corned Beef Hash (Abalos style)
I used leftover corned beef and cabbage from St. Patrick's Day, and added a little rice vinegar, soy sauce, and sambal olek for flavor.
