Beef and Guinness® Stew

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2015
Made as directed except dredged beef in flour before browning. Thought this was a bit bitter tasting. Won't make again. It was not great, but not horrible either, just o.k.

Pineapple Upside-Down Cake VII

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2015
This was just ok. Followed as written, used Betty Crocker yellow cake mix. Took about 40 min to cook through in my "hot" running oven. It was just ok. Will not make again.

Apple Squares

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2015
Excellent. Made as written except sprinkled about a teaspoon of cinnamon/sugar mixture on top and added 2 chopped granny smith apples. My oven runs hot and I needed to bake it for 40 min to get it cooked through. Delicious!!!

Mushroom Slow Cooker Roast Beef

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2015
used the onion soup mix recipe from this website (used better than bullion as base), used a 2/12 lbs sirloin that I salt and peppered then browned. Added carrots and potatoes to bottom of crock pot. At the end I thickened the save on the stove w/ some flour. cooked for 7 hrs on low. Used Sam Adams beer.Delish!

Quick and Easy Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2014
Not great, not bad, only ok. Doubled the sauce except the sugar. Won't make again. Tasted like a cross between asian and BBQ.

Iced Pumpkin Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2014
These were a really good, cake-like cookie with a delicate spice and pumpkin taste. I drizzled the icing on (I cut the amount of icing in half and omitted the butter). I took them to a potluck but after an hour not one of them were gone. I think it was because they look like a plain oatmeal cookie when done, so I recommend icing them completely and sprinkling on some sprinkles to make them prettier.

Garlic Chicken Stir Fry

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2014
Really, really good. Better than any chinese take-out I can get in my area- and healthier too. Changed up the veggies to be broccoli, asparagus, carrots. Diced 1/2 of a yellow onion. The green onion gets lost if you add it early in the cooking process- maybe sprinkle on towards the end. Have all the ingredients ready to go before cooking. Made it in a skillet on the stove. Pre-cooked chicken tenders in the oven and added them at the end just to warm. Easy, fast, and really good.

Gingerbread Biscotti

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2014
Made as directed, the oven temp is too high or the cookie has to cook too long resulting in scorched ginger leading to a bitter cookie that did not completely dry out as biscotti should. If you make these maybe decrease oven temp to 325 or 350? Won't make again.

French Pastry Pie Crust

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2013
Excellent flakey pie crust. Makes 2 pie crusts. Use a few more tablespoons of water than was called for and the crust was a bit crumbly but it still came out fine. You could probably make this and store in fridge for a few hours or over night if you want to make it in advance.

Harvest Pumpkin Cupcakes

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2013
They were ok, cake was a bit dry but everyone said they liked them. Maybe cut back on cornstarch or omit? I didn't add the orange zest or juice. I prefer a moister cake.

October Oatmeal Pumpkin Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2013
Really good. The kids love them. Didn't have pumpkin pie spice so I added a bit more cinnamon and 1/2 t ginger and 1 t vanilla. 1 1/4 c pumpkin puree is about 3/4 of a 15 oz can. I put in the whole can though.

Excellent cake. The frosting sets up quick so make sure your cake is done and warm or soon to come out of the oven.

Off the hook good. Just decreased the nutmeg a little, but a necessary ingredient for the overall flavor. You could roll these in powdered sugar as well. Yum!

Peanut Butter Noodles

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2013
I make it as it says but I use 3 packages of ramen noodles (or I think you could use angel hair pasta as well). I sauté some matchstick sized carrots, zucchini and mushrooms until crisp-tender and mix everything up at the end. I've topped it w/ fresh cut cucumber as well. You really could add anything veggie you like. I also use 1 teaspoon of saracha for the chili paste

Marinade for Chicken

Used the recipe adjustment calculator on website to make enough for 3 chicken breasts. Marinated for 6 hrs. I didn't notice that the chicken had much, if any flavor.

Chocolate Cream Pudding

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2013
I used bakers chocolate brand. Followed recipe exactly. Not overly sweet, had a rich deep chocolate taste. It would be good in a chocolate pie w/ whipped cream. I think jello cook and serve is better though. But this has less chemicals than jello.

Slow Cooker Oats

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2013
I greased my slow cooker pot and this stuck something aweful to it. I soaked and scrubbed it for so long, it was not worth it! The cinnamon cooked for that long gave a strange flavor. It's better to make this on the stove in 25 minutes.
