Rhubarb and Strawberry Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2004
This pie was really good. I've made many rhubarb pies and I've never soaked or cooked the rhubarb prior to putting it in. Either those of you who have the "crunchy rhubarb" problem have extremely tough rhubarb, or you're cutting it into chunks that are too big. I cut mine approx. 1/4" in width. I also agree with another person that this pie is a bit too sweet. Perhaps our rhubarb is not as bitter as others. It's all in the rhubarb I guess!

Old Fashioned Fudge Cake

Extremely moist! Sour cream always makes cakes moist. I used semi-sweet chocolate and the cake turned out perfect. No icing necessary.

Three Bean Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2005
I thought it was ok. I just realized that I completely forgot about putting the cheese in. I don't think it would have made much of a difference though.

Pfeffernuesse IV

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2005
I don't know what "traditional" pfeffernuesse tastes like, but this recipe is great. Instead of dusting them with powdered sugar I made a thick glaze of powdered sugar, vanilla and water and dipped the tops in it. They were delicious.

Good cookie. Slightly chewy inside. Crunchy outside. Very healthy.

Corn Flake Cookies II

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2004
I only made these because I had too many Corn Flakes and nobody who wanted to eat them. The recipe turned out, and we ate them all, but who wants to eat corn flake cookies over say, chocolate chip??

Asparagus Quiche

I used edam cheese instead of swiss because my step mum recommended it. It turned out fantastic. My pate brisee crust helped a lot. it was melt in your mouth! I will make this over, and over again.

Soft Gingerbread Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2004
Great recipe. To prevent from becoming hard do not over cook. This recipe requires very little cooking time. Be sure to roll these out to at least a 1/4 inch or else they will not be chewy.

Borscht I

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2004
There were a couple of flaws in the recipe. It doesn't specify whether to peel the beet or not (which I think should have been done). I also added all of the green pepper in the first step because I didn't want raw green pepper in the soup. In the end the soup turned out really yummy. This was the first time my bf and I have ever tried borcht and we loved it.

Blueberry Cherry Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2004
I only put in 3/4 cups of sugar as others suggested but I felt it needed a little more. Not to mention cinnamon OVERKILL! Yuck. If I made this again I would only add one teaspoon cinnamon.

Rhubarb Cake I

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2004
Yum! There was a tad too much topping, so I wound up throwing out about 1/8th of a cup. I had a little whipping cream left over so I used 1/3 whipping cream, and 2/3 milk with one tablespoon of lemon. I only had a cup of rhubarb, and it really would have been so much better with another cup but it still turned out perfect and moist!

Sour Cream Coffee Cake III

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2003
This cake is superb! The first time I made this recipe, I made the mistake of greasing AND flouring the pan, which makes it very hard to get the batter to stick to the bottom. I doubled the filling as recommended, but I found it a little too much. The second time I did the filling plus an additional half recipe of it and that worked out much better.

Todd's Famous Blueberry Pancakes

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2004
I thought one tablespoon of baking powder would make the pancakes taste too bitter so I added 2 1/2 teaspoons. I didn't let the batter sit for an hour because I didn't have time but they still turned out good. Just for my personal taste, I would add more sugar next time and more blueberries!

Best Brownies

Woops! I packed the icing sugar and I guess I shouldn't have, because the icing was more of a lumpy powder. I saved it by adding a touch of cream and it came out shiny and lovely. Yum!

This recipe turned out but it was too sweet for my taste. I would call it more of a cake than a bread.

Old Fashioned Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2004
I have unsalted peanut butter, so I added twice as much salt and used salted butter. It made my cookies way too salty. Otherwise these cookies are great. I made these again without the added salt and still used salted butter, and they were sooooooo yummy.

I used 1/2 cup brown sugar in place of 1/2 of white sugar and melted the butter. I added 1/2 cup of mint chocolate chips. This is a great recipe. My boyfriend loves them.
