you know how people say they can't taste their own food while they're cooking, or eat their own food after they've cooked it? i don't have that problem. i can do both, actually. same meal and everything.

macaroni and cheese, cheesecake, various treatments of salmon, chicken stir-fry, lamb and apricot pilaf, new things for baby to try

i am making up my own... but my dad's pancakes rock and i still can't replicate them.

my balsamic slow cooker pot roast! i've only made it once, two years ago, but my guests still talk about it... other than that, i'm known for a simple graham-cracker-crust, cream-cheese-filling, fruit-and-whipped cream dessert that has no name...

Chef John's Buttermilk Biscuits
just made these tonight. followed the recipe to a T, which i don't usually do. PERFECT. and not hard at all! tender, flavorful, a win with my kids. i'll make these again and again! (i used 3/4 cup milk with 2 TBSP of white vinegar, coz i don't usually have real buttermilk around.

White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake
i'm just gonna join the fanbase here and say this was amazing. i had a basic cheesecake recipe i put together from various recipes and thought i had it down until i tried this. i did modify it slightly - added a bit of unsalted butter and sour cream to the filling, and used graham crackers instead of chocolate cookie crumbs for the base. but other than that, followed it to a T. it's not my favorite type of cheesecake, but it's my husband's so i made this for his birthday. SO GOOD. i may be eating more of it than he is...!!

Fluffy Pancakes
yep! awesome like everyone says. i used white whole wheat flour, coz it's what i had, put a tad more baking powder in, and added vanilla - otherwise followed to a T. very light and fluffy :)
