Purple Apple Slaw

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2004
This cole slaw was delicious! It's surprisingly not as fruity as I thought it would be, with 2 apples in it. Served it with ham. I made it exactly according to the recipe. Yum!

Apple Crisp III

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2007
This should have about 1,000 five star ratings! You can tweak it by spicing the apples a little, or mixing 1/2 brown and 1/2 white sugar, but however you prefer it, it's decadent and easy! I took this to a wealthy retired folks soiree and it was gobbled up...I even caught someone sticking a baggie full in his pocket!!! I make it every fall and I can never get enough...thanks for this new family recipe!

Mom's Shrimp Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2011
I have had this recipe saved for years & never rated yet. It's very good! Of course you can tweak it & use fewer ingredients. I did use pickle juice as I do with all my cold salads. And the biggest shrimp I can afford, steamed at the store with Old Bay seasoning wakes it right up.

Copper Penny

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2011
My mother-in-law has been making this forever & I was so delighted to find it here. Once you make this, you will understand. It is delish & lasts for over a week in the fridge, gets better the 2nd day. Very fresh tasting.

Delicious Apple Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2007
The applesauce was very tasty...the only drawback for me was that it turned very brown due to the cinnamon & brown sugar, and my pickyish six yr old wouldn't eat it. But our 99 yr old Pop scarfed it up, saying "Well this is just plain good!" as he sopped it up with a biscuit...CAN'T ARGUE WITH THAT I GUESS!!!

Cyclops Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2006
I thought these cookies were perfect...I especially liked that they keep a nice puffy shape when you bake them & don't flatten out too much.

Christmas Seafood Casserole

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2011
This was good but not Christmas Eve good. I made it for a crowd. I think I was looking for something thicker & richer. But it is tasty.

Corned Beef and Cabbage

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2010
Was nice and simple, but I'd omit the onion next time, add more pickling spice, and boil the cabbage separately.

Baked Ziti I

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2007
This makes 2 small pans to feed a large family twice, instead of having too many leftovers. It's delicious just as is, but I incorporate a layer of pepperoni to spice things up a bit. Good to use for pot lucks or for folks that could use a prepared meal delivered!

Pink Fruit Dip

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2011
Yummy! Cheap to make, kids love it. Don't go buying that garbage that they sell in plastic tubs at the produce aisle. Make this just the way you like it. Tastes fine with lite ingredients too.

World's Best Potato Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2011
I made this for Easter dinner at our mountain home, and two of my southern cooking aunts (NC & GA) had to have this recipe right away! I got into making it & realized I had no evaporated milk...but I doubled the starch & used about 1/2 c whole milk & it was nice & thick. I feel like such a pro. This is going into my favorites file!

Lemon-Orange Orange Roughy

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2007
A very quick, easy, and tasty way to prepare your fish! It's great with a variety of white fish, whichever you have on hand. I brought a ton of ripe lemons and oranges home from a Florida trip and this was a good way to use some instead of just making juice!

My mom suggested this as she serves it to company all the time and I have made it countless times. It is FAN TAS TIK! For as simple as it is to prepare, it is very rewarding...juicy, flavorful, and easy on the waistline. What a great find!

Canned Apple Pie Filling

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2006
This was soooo easy and delicious. I didn't actually can it, I used it as a compote for waffles and to top ice cream and just stored it in the fridge. I scaled it down like another reviewer and it was perfect. Yummmmm!!!

Split Pea Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2012
I have never been a fan of split pea soup, I guess it's the color? This recipe was WONDERFUL, my picky son loved it, and everyone asked for seconds. I didn't think it was possible! I did boil the ham bone for 1-1/2hrs before I assembled the recipe, and it turned out nice and flavorful, not too thick at all.

Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2010
Needs doctoring up, but it's a good simple bbq. I agree that the sauce makes a difference. I used Hunts BBq but added Montreal Steak BBQ sauce too, and hot sauce.

Very fresh and simple. I also added garlic and used dried cilantro, since that's what I had on hand. Lush!
