Mom's Apple Salad

My Mom made this salad every Thanksgiving...I love it. 1C half and half 1 c sugar 1 egg, pinch of salt, in a sauce pan bring to a boil stirring constantly for five minutes add one tsp. vanilla. Let it cool. Cut up about six cups of granny smith and
mac apples, 3stalks of celery, a cup of walnuts ( some people add grapes, not me) . Put the chopped ingredients in a bowl and mix in the cooled sauce. It is delicious.Thank you Mom....
