Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2010
Excellent recipe - It's now in my family recipe file! I used a Pampered Chef apple peeler/corer to save on time and effort of peeling so many apples. Made it even easier!

Rock Candy

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2009
I have tried this recipe (and several others) with not much success. I'm sure the concept is there and maybe it's just me but I couldn't get it to work. I didn't have a problem with mold, just ants. They were after the sugar big time! I gave this a 3 cuz' I'm not sure if it's me or the recipe. Sorry.

Chinese Restaurant Almond Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2009
These cookies turn out even better than the Chinese restaurant! Listen to the author, you MUST use Lard (also known as manteca) if you want them to turn out the same as the restaurant cookies. I also used extra almond extract (2 tsp.) since I love the flavor.

Cake Balls

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2009
Made these for a work potluck and they were a HIT! To make the dipping process easier, I shaped the balls on a lollipop stick and then dipped them. For a cute and easy presentation, I stuck them in a basket with styrofoam. Oh, and I called them "Cake Pops" because it just sounded more appetizing. Lol!

Hobo Dinner

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2009
I grew up on Hobo Dinners, they were always a camping trip dinner. my mom always mixed in Lipton Onion soup mix instead of the onions (cuz' we wouldn't eat it with em') and put a few pieces of zucchini on top before wrapping up to keep it moist.

Much easier if you use storebought "precooked" bacon.

Butter Fried Zucchini

Reviewed: May 4, 2008
This is one of our family's favorite "appetizers". It's definitely a southern thing, even though we live in California (family from Texas and North Carolina though). This is basically the same recipe that I grew up with, except that we just dip the zucchini in milk, not eggs, and then dip in the flour, sprinkle with salt and fry em up! These never, ever make it to the table because we eat them to fast :)

Grandma Johnson's Scones

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2008
I wanted to make my dad a batch of scones for his birthday. I didn't have a lot of time to research a recipe and just assumed that since this recipe had 800+ 5 star reviews, I could trust it. Not only was it a fabulous recipe, but it was so.... easy. I doubled the recipe and made one regular batch and one cranberry-orange batch. I just added some orange zest and about a cup of craisins. Fabulous!! This recipe is going into the family file right now!!!

Creamy Split Pea Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2008
This recipe is a 5+ star recipe. My brother got the recipe here from allrecipes.com and gave it to me. I love this soup, highly addictive. I made changes to the recipe, but only for personal preference. I omitted the diced ham as I do not like ham and omitted the heavy whipping cream to keep the recipe Weight Watcher friendly. I did leave in the bacon, just reducing it to 3 slices for the flavor.

Chicken Papadoris

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2007
I haven't even sat down at the table to eat this yet. Although, I have taken 3 bites straight out of the pan. Yum! I had coconut milk and curry paste when I did an ingredient search here on allrecipes. I did not have some of the other ingredients, but I improvised. I used red curry paste in the sauce instead of the powder and added water chestnuts for crunch at the end. This is a keeper!

Harvest Potato Casserole

This is it!!! I have been looking for a very long time for this recipe. I've tried others and they were never quite what I was looking for. I made two small changes, I diced the potatoes and left out the pimientos. This recipes is going into the family file. Thanks!!!

Bromley Coleslaw

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2007
I went to Allrecipes to find a coleslaw recipe without vinegar. This one sounded perfect. I just made it and it is sitting in the fridge as I write this. As usual, I changed it a little. First, it was too mayonaissey (I don't think that's a word), so I used 1 cup mayo and 1 cup sour cream. I also eliminated the celery seed and green onions as I just wanted a simple, sweet coleslaw. This is a great recipe. Thanks for sharing Lynne

Buffet Scrambled Eggs

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2007
These are the best eggs I have ever made. My brother found the recipe here and shared it with me. After he makes the cream sauce he just scrambled the eggs up with the cream sauce mixed in - and it still turns out great. I'm not sure why everyone talks about the salt being an issue because the recipe doesn't call for added salt. I didn't add extra salt because the recipe didn't call for it - they turn out great every time!!!

This recipe was awesome. The only change I made was that I used sliced potatoes instead of shredding them. I did have to increase the cooking time, but it was worth it. A+ Keeper!!!

This just became my favorite recipe. I brought the laptop in the kitchen, made this and just took my first bite. Mmmm!!! I did not have meat extract, so I used beef broth instead of the chicken broth. I also added 1/2 cup heavy cream as another suggested, Awesome!!!!

Corn Chip Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2005
This is the Taco Salad recipe I grew up on. I love it with the 1000 isle and Fritos. I brown the meat and then add the kidney beans. Hubby likes it with Catalina dressing and Tortilla chips, so I leave the meat separate and then we mix our own.
