The Best Bean and Ham Soup

I made ham and bean soup, using this recipe as a base. Changed some ingredients according to what I had - used sea salt instead of kosher salt, salt-free seasoning blend instead of the individual spices here. No lemon juice, added a celery stalk & bay leaf, and 4 small golden potatoes. Added up to 8 cans of low sodium chicken broth. It was delicious, and the person I made it for was very pleased!

Smothered Beef Short Ribs

Trying this recipe now, as a base for some short ribs & other ingredients that I have. I've altered it somewhat using parsnips instead of celery, added red rice & mushrooms too. Instead of thyme & bay leaves, I've used sage & a bit of curry. I did NOT use any flour at all. And oh, I added another cup of red wine. We'll see how it goes because I'm an hour away from having it for the first time! (That's why I'm not rating it 5 stars yet.)
