Marinade for Steak I

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2013
oh we loved this! i was looking for a marinade without any kind of sweet in it. used it for really thick sirloin. it came out sooo tasty, not overpowering the meat flavor. we grilled the steak to a perfect medium-rare and just really enjoyed. a keeper.

Inger's Spaghetti Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2013
I thought very good. I used fresh basil from my garden so adjusted the amount for fresh. My bf likes a lot of spice, so next time I will use more basil, oregano, garlic. I used fire roasted canned tomatoes for it. Will keep this one for my spaghetti sauce recipe for sure, thanks!

Louisiana Sweet Potato Pancakes

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2012
I made these as written, they are a good way to use up sweet potatoes and a change of pancake type. They were dense but did cook all the way through (read other reviews.) I cooked them slowly to make sure they cooked through. Can taste the nutmeg pretty strongly. Couldn't actually taste much sweet potato though. Next time I would find a way to make them fluffier- buttermilk or separate eggs and whip the whites. And, cut the nutmeg and add cinnamon. But, a good way to add some extra fiber and health to pancakes!

Edamame Fresca

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2012
this was sooo pretty in the bowl and very tasty. i gave 5 stars but next time i would cut the rice vinegar in half, it was too much for my taste. the flavor i had on hand of vinegar had basil and oregano in it, that was the only difference. i couldn't stop eating it! thanks for a great healthy recipe for hot days.

Slow Cooker Cranberry Pork

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2012
this was soooo tasty. i used a pork shoulder, which comes out more moist that a loin. i did not have canned cranberry sauce but did have frozen fresh cranberries, so i made sauce with that. i think next time i will leave out the french dressing. but, i loved it!

Meat-Lover's Slow Cooker Spaghetti Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2012
have made this twice, first in crock pot then stovetop because of last minute decision to make it. it is thick, tomato-ey. it's a keeper. i also increased the amount of italian sausage the second time. i used carrots the second time instead of sugar, which i think i prefer. i think i will try a can of fire roasted tomatoes next time, and some red wine. i like it. lots of room to play with it.

Savory Vegetable Beef Stew

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2011
really liked this. i skipped the salt and used low sodium beef broth. it has simple flavor that lets the veggies shine through. i added fresh green beans because i had some to use. it was a good idea to brown the meat in italian salad dressing. a keeper for me.

Spicy Grilled Shrimp

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2011
i didn't have coarse salt so i used 1 tsp. table salt, it was still just a bit too salty- but i don't cook with salt and don't salt food after, so i'm sensitive to the taste. it was spicy, good amount, not too much or too little. i put the shrimp on skewers to turn easier since i made a lot and didn't want to over cook. i'd like to try the variations next, like lime instead of lemon juice. a good easy recipe.

Blackened Fish

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2011
pretty darned good. i thought there was too much butter also. next time will greatly reduce it. i did it outdoors on the grill with my cast iron griddle, instead of in my kitchen. i also used tilapia, since that is what most people here in this house like. thanks, it's a good one.

very very good. followed recipe first time. second time i added other suggestions- some cumin, lime juice, garlic powder. i used it as a sauce for a beef, chicken, and seafood fondue dinner. we love it.

Curried Honey Mustard Chicken

Reviewed: May 12, 2011
really nice. i liked the flavor, it came out so moist. i cooked it for 30 minutes at 350, then it sat in the oven for a bit longer. it was a bit sweet, so next time i'll do a little less honey, but that's just personal taste. i really like the touch of curry flavor.

Old Fashioned Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2011
i liked this, the swiss adds a nice flavor. it came out grainy though, not totally creamy. every baked mac and cheese i've tried is grainy, so i think i'll do this as a stove top only recipe, and just combine all and eat it, because the sauce is smooth before baking and i really like this.

Buttery Soft Pretzels

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2011
we made these tonight, they came out great. a little crispy on the outside and soft. maybe not as chewy as mall ones, but a much better flavor. i added a fair amount of water to the dough. it's fun reading the reviews to see how others adjusted. i think next time i'll start with less flour and add to desired constistency. in the end the dough was wonderful to knead and rose really well. the end result was so tasty and great texture. i could vary things to get different textures, maybe a little crispier on the outside. we had them with mustard.
