Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: May 17, 2013
This pie is absolutely FABULOUS! I can't get over how amazing it is. I have made it multiple times now and it comes out amazing every single time. One thing that I would recommend is when you are making the ooey gooey sauce that you pour over the lattice work and apples, DO NOT BOIL IT!!!!! If the heat gets too high, it will lump up into a big sugar ball. Melt all the ingredients together in the pan on a medium low heat setting. Also, if you pre-bake the bottom of the pie crust for 5-8 minutes, the bottom crust doesn't get all mushy from the water in the apples when baked. I use homemade crust so I have to pre-bake the bottom layer no matter what. Not sure if this tip would still apply for a store-bought crust? Anyway, amazing apple pie! It is often requested by friends!

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: May 9, 2012
My absolute favorite bread recipe! It's super fast and really easy...especially if your yeast is fresh and ready to rise! I know people say this all the time, but seriously, if your yeast is past the expiration date, don't use it. When you buy yeast, even if it is dry active, REFRIGERATE IT! You won't regret making this easy decision. This bread is supposed to rise in an hour...with fresh yeast, it rose in 30 minutes! Add some cheddar cheese and jalapenos for a kick or olives and rosemary to spice up your pasta! *NOTE* For really moist bread, place a pan with a few 1-2 inches of water on the bottom rack of your oven to steam the bread while baking. It comes out extremely delicious!

Best Carrot Cake Ever

Reviewed: May 9, 2012
This is a delicious recipe! It doesn't pop out of the pan like a sponge cake does. When I took it out of the pan, 3/4 of the bottom, remained in the pan. I ended up scooping out what was left and putting it on top, then putting it into a glass pan and serving it that way instead of on a cake stand. Overall, I would make this again! It is delicious. Sometimes the best desserts are the messy ones!

Absolute Best Liver and Onions

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2012
Pretty darn yummy! I gave this recipe only 4 starts simply because I didn't follow the recipe to a "T". I am currently dieting and cannot have flour or butter, so I followed the recipe omitting the flour and butter aspects. I also took the advice of a fellow reviewer and sauteed garlic with the onions. It is DELICIOUS! I love Liver & Onions and this just re-affirms my love for it! When I am no longer dieting, I shall try it with the flour and butter. I can only imagine what kind of Heaven that will be!
