My favorite things to cook
I cook Mediterranean, vegetarian, Southern food, pan-Asian dishes, and sometimes experiment with new things. My appetite inspires me to try new dishes, techniques, and ingredients all the time, and I find I am always learning.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom made unbelievable pork chops and gravy from scratch, as well as making stir-fries often. I think I initially got interested in learning to cook from watching her.
My cooking triumphs
*chicken cordon bleu stuffed with a mixture of gorgonzola, olive oil, spinach, fresh basil, cremini mushrooms, and red onion, pulsed into a paste in a food processor.
*My red beans and rice, with hot links and caramelized red onion.
*Grilled portabella mushroom burgers marinated in a marinade consisting of balsamic vinaigrette, brown deli mustard, fresh minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, and black pepper.
My cooking tragedies
....usually involve burning or slightly overcooking things, or in not adequately planning so that the different dishes of a meal come out at the same time. Doh!
