Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2006
These were good, but not great. The texture was fine, but they seemed a little bland.

Banana Pudding IV

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2005
This is great. I made it as is, except I cut the condensed milk by half as suggested by other reviewers. It was still plenty sweet, even too sweet for some. Next time I may cut it even more. One thing...this definitely isn't an authentic banana pudding. Most people expect the cooked version, but this is a great no-bake version. I'm enjoying the leftovers.

Chuck's Favorite Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: May 1, 2005
This was good, but it does have a very "sharp" taste. I thought it was the sharp cheddar, so the second time I made it, I used mild. Still tasted sharp, so it must be the sour cream. If you want a milder taste, maybe use less sour cream and mix in some milk or something. My husband and I liked it, but it was strong for my son. Edited to add: The day after, this is even better. The flavor really mellows, and the leftovers are perfect.

Six Can Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2004
This was so easy and so good! We were craving tortilla soup, but needed a quick dinner, so I didn't want to tackle a longer ingredient list. I think the tomatoes with green chiles that we bought were pretty spicy, because the soup turned out spicier than I thought it would, and I didn't have to add any spice. I did add just a bit of corn starch to thicken it. We topped it with cheddar cheese, sour cream and tortilla chips, and even my 8 year old ate two bowls!

Quick Chinese-Style Vermicelli (Rice Noodles)

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2004
I didn't quite follow the recipe. I added chicken and doubled the chili sauce and soy sauce. I also didn't have green onions, so I used a small white onion, and cooked it with the garlic. My husband and son loved it, but I found it a little bland. Next time, I'll add some vegetables and maybe a chile pepper. But, it's a good basic recipe, if you don't like alot of spice.

All-Day Apple Butter

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2003
Excellent recipe! I've never made apple butter before, but this turned out so good. I used half the sugar as previously recommended, and it is plenty sweet. I used a variety of apples: Mutsu, Empire, Golden Delicious and McIntosh. I think maybe if I had used really tart apples, I may have needed the additional sugar, but next time I will cut it even more...maybe 1 1/2 cups if I'm using the Golden Delicious again, as they are very sweet. I'm on my way to get some vanilla ice cream to pour this over while it's still warm! Note: This does cook down alot. I started with a full crock pot, and it's now about 1/4 full. Wish I could figure out a way to make more at once!

Great cookie! Perfect texture, crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside. I added chocolate chips to half and that turned out great, too. Thanks!

Macaroni And Cheese II

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2001
Really easy recipe, but didn't have a strong enough cheese flavor for my family. I'll add some sharp cheddar to the leftovers, maybe that will be enough. Also needed some salt. Very bland to the adults, but my 4 year old ate it well.

Baklava

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2000
Great recipe! This turned out perfect and delicious. I've always lived baklava, but I figured it was hard to make. This was so easy. It takes some time, but it's not difficult. Just remember to thaw your dough the night before. I will definitely be making this for our next family gathering.

Stuffed Shells I

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2000
I also ended up with alot of cheese mixture left over, and the final product was just a bit runny. The flavor was good, and my family enjoyed it. I think next time I'll use less cottage cheese and maybe add a little spinch or some Italian sausage. Overall, a good meal!

Cherry Pie III

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2000
This is a really great pie! It was the first all-homemade pie we've made and it went much more smoothly than I'd anticipated. Even our preschooler got to help roll the crusts, (which turned out light and flaky!) We will definitely use this recipe again and again.

Grilled Tuna

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2000
Really great fish! I used our little counter-top grill indoors instead of the barbeque, and it turned out great. My 4 year ate a whole steak, and he hasn't finished a meal in 2 weeks!

Cilantro Cucumber Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2000
This was great. To make it more kid friendly for my 4 year old (and my picky husband), I decreased the chili powder by about 3/4. It still left the flavor, but not the spiciness. Also, my husband said next time to only use 3/4 of the cilantro, but I thought it was fine. We served it with the grilled tuna recipe I also found here, with lime also, and it was perfect!
