About this Cook
I'm a very picky eater, so cooking is not always a pleasure for me. I always modify recipes to fit my tastes (no onions, no strong spices, very light garlic) which is not in step with the rest of the world. On the other hand, cooking is usually the ONLY way I make food exactly as I like it. Unfortunately, my family members sometimes feel deprived.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Going on many years now, for Christmas morning, DH prepares Oven Baked Caramel French Toast: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/oven-baked-caramel-french-toast/detail.aspx It is decadent, so we only eat it on very special occasions. Our now grown-up twin daughters request it each year, and he enjoys making it for us as a nostalgic and delicious Christmas gift. He serves it with oven baked bacon or sausage, orange juice and beverage of choice. I get a little tear in my eye when I think of this tradition.

Ghirardelli Crispy Crunchy Chocolate Chip Cookies
I specifically chose this recipe because I like crispy cookies. This recipe makes huge cookies! They were at least 5" in diameter. I used a medium cookie scoop (about 1/8 cup) to reduce them to 3" cookies. I think the foil is important. Be sure to flatten them somewhat before baking. So delicious! I only finished baking them a hour ago, and they are crispy on the edges and softer in the middle. I'll take that!

Fried Rice Restaurant Style
Loved it but added a can of bean sprouts to extend it and make it more like the fried rice we order at our favorite Chinese restaurant. Thanks for a great recipe. I have include it in my online "recipe box."

Perfect Berry Shortcakes
I have always been a sponge-cake kind of girl before I discovered this recipe. Used just the shortcake recipe, not the berries - my family and friends rave about the texture and flavor. It is the best. This is one of those recipes I will pass down to future generations.
