Grilled Garlic Artichokes

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2009
Hands down the best artichoke ever! Be sure to steam your choke long enough if its one of the really really big ones, mine came out slightly crunchy after BBQ.

German Currywurst

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2008
This was really tasty, reminds me a lot of the fatherland and meals I had in Frankfurt years ago. I used garlic salt instead of onion, and added a pinch of garam marsala. This one's going in my recipe box, thanks!

Cashew Chicken with Water Chestnuts

Reviewed: May 28, 2008
Great! just as others said, its as good and better than most Chinese restaurants. I used tempeh instead of chicken, too much soy sauce though, and could go more spicy.

Thai Noodles

Reviewed: May 5, 2008
This is a very good recipe, in Thai food the veggies should all be tender crisp, not overdone and soggy. Some tips on cooking the vegetables: onion in first, when it just barely starts to soften, throw in the mushrooms. Cook for only 1 or 2 minutes, then add the peppers and the sauces. Continue to cook till the peppers are tender-crisp, by then the mushrooms will be succulent, and the onions will be softened. I used the peanut sauce mentioned in the review, but I added 3/4cup of soy milk (use light coconut milk if you have it) as the sauce thickened to a sludge when heated. I also added some lime juice and chile paste.

Faux Jerk Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2008
really good, I didn't have the scotch bonnet peppers so I just added more cayenne which seemed to work. I kept the marinade for dipping, I boiled it very well to be sure it was safe though.

Rutabaga Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2008
Just awful! really truly not palatable, lacked flavor, poor consistency, raw carrot taste. If you have the rutabagas already and you've had this kind of thing before and liked, that's the only way I could see anyone eating this stuff. I can't get the taste out of my mouth!

Bread Pudding with Whiskey Sauce III

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2008
Exceptionall! I made this hoping to duplicate a local restaurant's whiskey bread pudding, and am very satisfied. I used pear brandy instead of whiskey and was amazing, also used 10oz croissants and 6oz french bread which made for a very nice crispy crust on top and fluffyness underneath. As others suggested, I raised the cooking temp to 325 for 50 minutes and was perfect. One problem I had was way way too much sauce, I only used 1cup sugar and 1cup corn syrup but still had about a cup of extra sauce. Could cut back even further with sugar as sauce was plenty sweet.

Blender Hollandaise Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2008
Very easy, I actually liked the taste and was able to make it work. Have tried others, which are nearly impossible to keep from seperating. This one is a no brainer. A little too much lemon juice, and mustard flavor for me, though otherwise delicious.

Insanely Easy Vegetarian Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2008
This is so easy to throw together, and versatile. I threw in some black beans, and more garlic, used crushed tomatoes, and fire roasted tomatoes...fantastic. Do adjust the seasoning: 1/2 the cumin, double the chili powder. I'd leave the carrots out next time too, just don't seem to meld with chili IMO.

Curry Pumpkin Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2007
Very good, easy and quick to make. The taste is lacking nothing, its very satisfying and the pumpkin seeds add some texture. Makes a lot of soup, I will end up freezing about 1/2 of it.

Sunflower Wheat Rolls

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2007
These rolls are very very tasty. They are soft, slightly sweet with crunch from the seeds/nuts. Exceptionally good with a bowl of soup on a cold winter night. I added about 2 Tbsp pumpkin seeds, and used a hand mixer with dough hooks instead of a bread maker. It was easy and turned out great!

Cauliflower-Cheese Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2007
This soup is phenominal! It's thick, creamy and cheesey. My girlfriend doesn't like cooked cauliflower but she loved this soup and was sad when it was all gone. I added 1/4 cup dry vermouth, white pepper and black pepper, and used reserve white cheddar aged 2 years. I will be making this soup again and again as the requests come in.

Classic Hollandaise Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2007
WAY TOO MUCH SALT, PEPPER, and LEMON. Mine did not thicken, it seperated. Instructions need to be more clear about how slowly to add the yolks, and what to look for when the sauce gels.

Pizza Dough III

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2007
The best part about the recipe is that its fast, and easy. Don't expect it to be the best crust you've ever had, it was bready and did not expand or get crispy. So so experience, I used organic white flour, maybe that was the problem?
