Alaine's Blue Cheese Dressing

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2014
THIS IS IT!!! I LOVE the Blue Cheese dressing that they serve in many restaurants. I've asked for their recipe, but they would never give it to me. I've tried several other home-made recipes, but they weren't what I was looking for. I did take the advice of several others and used 1 cup of mayonnaise and 1 cup of sour cream though. Perfection! Many thanks to the person who posted this recipe!

Spicy Chicken Thai Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2013
Wow, this soup is so good! It's, basically, Tom Yum soup - one of my favorites. The only alteration I made was that I used boneless, skinless chicken breast instead of dark meat. Despite the warnings, I didn't find it to be spicy at all (and I'm very sensitive to spicy food). I almost didn't add all of the Red Curry Paste, but I'm glad I did. I'll probably add even more next time. Maybe the brand I bought just isn't as spicy as other brands? The only other change that I'll make is to add salt. It definitely needed salt. This recipe is one of my favorites that I've found on this site. I'll be making this soup a lot!

Restaurant Style Beef and Broccoli

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2012
My husband and I loved it and thought it was restaurant quality. I only made a few changes - I halved the sugar (because we never like sweet beef and broccoli), omitted the sherry wine (we were out) and added about two tablespoons of sherry vinegar.

Greek Salad, The Best!

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2012
The only thing I would change is the vinaigrette. It was pretty strong. I'm not sure if it was the garlic that made it too strong or the dried basil and oregano. I'll probably reduce the amount of all of them next time (or pour less on the salad).

Addictive Sweet Potato Burritos

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2012
I would make this again, but it wasn't as good as a few people who suggested it to me made it out to be. I think my expectations were set too high. And, mashing the kidney beans wasn't fun. Next time, I'll put them in the food processor before adding it to the onion and garlic.

Spaghetti Squash I

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2012
This might be good as a side, but not at all satisfying as a main course - even for lunch.

Russian Mushroom and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2012
Very satisfying and absolutely delicious! I added about a cup of dry lentils for some protein since I served this for dinner and didn't miss having a meat at all. Don't forgo the fresh dill garnish! It definitely added to the flavor! I also put a dollop of sour cream on top of each bowl. It enhanced the tangy flavor of the dill very well. I will make this again...very soon!

Vegetarian Chili

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2012
Fantastic! I couldn't even tell this was a vegetarian dish! As with all chili (with meat or vegetarian), I topped each bowl with sour cream, cilantro and hot sauce. It was so good. This is the only chili I'm going to make from now on.

Overnight Asparagus Mushroom Strata

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2012
I LOVED this! It was delicious! My husband and I are trying to go vegetarian and since I don't have a lot of vegetarian recipes, I served this for dinner. It was great as a dinner entree. And, it's so flavorful that I didn't miss having meat at all.

Cabin Dinner

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2012
While this recipe wasn't bad, I was expecting something else based on the photo. I guess I should have realized that there are kidney beans in it, as well as other chili ingredients, so it was user error on my part. It's, basically, vegetarian chili. Unfortunately, I had also planned vegetarian chili for the same week and bought all the ingredients for it. I might make this again, but I'm going to use white beans or butter beans, cilantro, jalapenos, etc. and half the chili powder, cumin and turmeric to make it taste more like the picture and less like chili.
