Wilderness Place Lodge Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2003
I made this cookie using a little less walnuts and adding sunflower and flax seeds (and toasting them all b4 making the cookies) to the recipe. As well I forgot the coconut! I almost didn't go with the raisins b/c i was skeptical about the raisin/chocolate chip combo but I'm so glad i did! I didnt find that my cookies came out flat but it could be b/c i used whole wheat flour instead of regular white (added fibre is always good!). These cookies were amazing, hugely filling, nutritious and fruity, chewy, crunchy, nutty all in one! I'm sure glad i halved the recipe, I ran out of room to cool the cookies! I have a feeling these will be a standby for get togethers and school lunches.

Chicago Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2005
i brought this dip last minute to a small get together with 20 somethings....it was a hit.. a great way to get lots of spinach in and the fresh green onions and lemon juice were nice... i was opting for rye bread instead of italian... in addition i used light sour cream and light miracle whip and it tasted excellent... keep this for your get togethers!

Seven Layer Tortilla Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2005
i made this with 5 tortillas not 7...i couldnt jam anything else in the pan..i did use large tortillas though... substituted the 2 cans each of black and pinto beans as well as a can of refried beans for the two different layers served with homemade guacomole and light sour cream tasted really great.. could use some more variety in the pie..more texture or taste maybe perhaps corn or some chopped veggies....like more tomatoes perhaps peppers .. made ALOT of food..enough for 10 people i would think.... would add cumin to the two cans of bean/salsa mix for more taste... also would end it with a tortilla then cheese..not a layer of beans then cheese as stated.... make alot of guacomole with this recipe..its going to be needed.. the taste is somewhat bland... but it beats a boring chicken breast, potatoe, carrot meal anyday!

Spinach Chickpea Curry

Reviewed: May 18, 2005
i added potatoes and carrot coins to this....you should really cook the vegetables first and then add to the creamed corn mix...which i didnt do and had to microwave everything to just soften the potatoes up.. this recipes flavour was totally unique and absolutely addictive... i was tempted to leave out the last step of adding the spinach and basil because it had already tasted so good.. i DID not successfully find the right curry paste..i bought a Thai curry paste i realized after opening wasnt suitable so i just used alot of curry powder on its only..near 2tbsp i think...it could use a bit more heat for some people probably... i think next time ill bypass the spinach and basil and stay with the curry powder ...excellent!

Curried Pumpkin Soup

Reviewed: May 25, 2005
i followed this to a T and found it excellent.. for a low fat, low calorie and generally healthy soup its tasty and different (plus you would never know) my boyfriend said it tasted 'healthy' but really liked the flavours..maybe add more curry powder to it though... i used the powder to make chicken broth but might use canned broth next time and more pumpkin the 4 apples were small but still found it nice... i would definetely add cinnamon and nutmeg next time

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2005
I made these a 2nd time with fresh ginger. I doubled the recipe and used 2 full tsps of fresh grated ginger and I hardly tasted it. I also drizzled a lemon icing over top of it and they were well received (1 1/4 cup of icing sugar with 2-3 tbsp of lemon juice, added until the right consistency). Was thinking of using white chocolate glaze or fresh ginger glaze next time. These really only need to be baked for 7-8 min really, flatted with the bottom of a glass. Great and fun!

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2012
I don't know what I did wrong?! I miss Pilsbury all of a sudden. These taste too cakey, they are too thick, not really sweet enough and 1 tbsp of vanilla? what??! why??! I think I need the Crisco cookie recipe back . I will be bringing these elsewhere...

Better Than Sex Cake II

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2013
This apparently went over well at the girls night dinner I brought it to. I don't mind it, but I am not a fan of whipped topping. I do love condensed milk and caramel..but I am also not a fan of chocolate cake. I did have about 3 pieces over the past 2 days though..and between 6 people the dish was totally gone in 2 days..haha! I would make it again for a party because it's easy and looks appealing, but I don't particularly care for half of the ingredients.
