About this Cook
I've been cooking since I was in fourth grade, and now I teach 5th grade! I am always on the go, planning my wedding, teaching, and taking care of my adorable puppy. We're always busy around here!
My favorite things to cook
Dessert! Anything sweet works for us :)
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom taught me to make peanut butter cookies when I was in fourth grade, and I don't think we've stopped baking cookies since then! Especially around Christmas, we love to get together and make several different recipes for our family and friends.
My cooking triumphs
Any time people love my food, I consider it a triumph. My favorites are probably the Chicken Wing dip, Grandma Johnson's Scones, and Chantal's New York Cheesecake from this site. People are always crazy about those when I take them to parties or get-togethers.
My cooking tragedies
I attempted to make someone (I can't even remember who at this point) a birthday cake when I was in 5th grade. I baked and iced it, then decorated it... it was beautiful. As I was moving it from the kitchen counter to the table, I tripped and dropped the cake, then was so shocked I slipped and fell into the cake. There was a huge mess in the floor, and I just sat there and cried for the longest time... Even now, if there is any dessert carrying to be done, I make my fiance do it :) Cake is too good to end up on the floor!

Michelle's Soft Sugar Cookies
Very nice sugar cookies! I used butter instead of margarine and didn't chill them at all. Had no trouble rolling them out and cutting them with cookie cutters, and they baked up beautifully. I've never made successful sugar cookies before, but these were perfect. I rolled the cookies fairly thin since I knew they would puff up a bit, so I ended up getting more than 6 dozen heart shaped cookies. Very popular at work and with my family. Thanks for this one!!

School Lunchroom Cafeteria Rolls
I was pleasantly surprised by these rolls-- I wasn't sure, since the name sounds kind of strange, but they turned out awesome. I used fat free margarine substitute in place of the butter and shortening to cut back on some of the fat. They were very good with soup or for breakfast the next day, and we thought they had plenty of flavor. Honey butter is a great idea to make these even better! Thanks for a great recipe!

Buttermilk Pancakes I
Very good pancake recipe! Probably the best I have tried from this site... they tasted almost just like the IHOP version, so I was impressed. Not sure if the blender was the best way to go, because all the flour ended up getting caught up at the bottom. Cut down a little on the oil too (maybe 1/8 c. instead of 1/4c.), but otherwise I kept it the same. Now, if I could just find some butter pecan syrup.... :)
