Creamy Carrot With Curry Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2014
This was lovely. It was the first time that I had ever tasted carrot soup, and I didn't quite know what to expect, but I am now a big fan. I substituted 1/2 tablespoon of the curry for an equal amount of garam marsala, put in an extra 3 cloves of garlic and a tart apple but otherwise followed the recipe, and the soup was a wonderful blend of sweet and deep, mellow spicy. I ate it with garlic bread and it was perfect together. Really, the only negative thing is that - for me at least - it took a lot longer to both saute and simmer the carrots until tender than the recipe states. About twice as long.

Spicy Vegan Potato Curry

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2013
I just finished eating this and it was lovely! Rich and with great flavours. Next time I will cut down on the cayenne pepper though; I had already cut it down to one teaspoon and even that was too spicy for me. I added more potatoes, omitted the ginger (I didn't have any), and used frozen peas but otherwise made it exactly as stated. I will definitely be making this again. Next time I might try serving it over rice.

Chicken Jalfrezi

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2013
I found the amount and mix of spices in this recipe to be far too overpowering. It's not that it was too spicy, it was just hugely overseasoned. I feel bad about being so harsh but it was truly horrible and a waste of ingredients.

Chicken with Peanut Curry Yogurt Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2012
It's not that it tasted bad but I was expecting something fresh and spicy with a nutty base and instead this was quite bland, even with extra salt and pepper, extra garlic and a heavy helping of cumin. I probably won't be making this again.

Teriyaki Marinated Chicken

Reviewed: May 13, 2009
This was lovely! I cut chicken fillets into bitesize pieces and marinated them for about 24 hours. Then I baked the pieces in the marinade in the oven for about 25 mins and finally gave them a quick 5 min roast on a pan before serving with boiled rice, fruity curry, and pineapple. The taste was delicious as is but next time I think that I will add a bit more garlic.

Fragrant Chicken Curry

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2009
This was good but not as amazing as I had expected based on other reviews. It has a nice smooth taste to it but I was expecting a bit more definition - and it was quite hard to get it to thicken properly. I had to resort to a bit of flour blend at the end. Might make this again but if so would add more spices and either diced carrots or apples.

Penne with Chicken and Pesto

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2009
Delish! I used milk instead of the cream, omitted the parmesan, added three finely chopped sundried tomates, and upped the garlic to four cloves (big fan) but otherwise followed the recipe. I will definitely make this again; might add a little bit more pesto next time.

Apple Banana Cupcakes

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2008
Yum, these muffins are amazing! I used butter instead of shortening and added about 80 gr of white chocolate but otherwise followed the recipe to a T and they just melt on the tongue; the exact right blend of fruit and spices. Just fed two to my flat mate and he said that they were better than those he buys every morning at Starbucks. Thanks for the recipe!

Chicken Jambalaya I

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2008
Oh my, I've just made this and it turned out amazing! I left out the celery and used 1 1/2 tbls of jalapeno pepper relish instead of the hot pepper sauce but otherwise stuck to the recipe and it was so good. Just the right amount of liquid for the rice (had my doubts in the beginning) and just the right mix and amounts of spices. Will definitely be making this again, and again.

Arrabbiata Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2003
We have just finished eating this and I must say that it was a bit of a disappointment. With these ingredients I was expecting something at the same time fresh and spicy and a little out of the ordinary but it tasted just like a standard pasta sauce although this was a little more sour. It's good/okay but it's not brilliant in any way and I don't think that I will be making this again. It was fun to try though.
