Shrimp Lemon Pepper Linguini

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2013
I give this 5 stars for flavor, ease of preparation, availability of ingredients. I did cut the pepper back to 1/2 tsp, which was plenty for my taste approval, otherwise prepared as written

Honey Mustard Chicken with Pretzel Crust

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2012
This came out very well and was easy to put together. The only complaint I have is that before we could finish eating the pretzel crumbs began getting soft instead of staying crispy. But I loved the flavor and the honey mustard sauce.

Panna Cotta

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2012
So easy to make and so delicious! I made a sauce with frozen sweet cherries and brandy-soaked blueberries which topped it off beautifully. I'll be making this often I'm sure. Thanks so much for the recipe. I did use 1/2 c. milk for 1/2 c. of the cream. It was plenty rich even so.

Flan II

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2012
I give this 5 stars for the flavor and texture, although I messed up and tried to make a large flan instead of individuals. It didn't unmold too well. Next time I'll do individuals for sure, but this is as good as any flan I've ever eaten in Mexico, maybe better than most.

South Georgia Biscuits

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2012
We loved these biscuits. I used my food processor to mix and then kneaded lightly. Because of altitude and humidity I used only 3/4 cup of milk and it all went together perfectly and easily.

Orange Buns

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2012
Very good recipe. I cut it in half as there are only 2 of us and made it in my food processor, which I love for breads. Put in all the dry ingredients, pulse to mix, add wet ingredients and butter, holding back the milk to add during the mixing process, as it never takes as much liquid here (7200 ft alt. and quite humid) as recipes call for. The buns came out delicious, light and subtly flavored with orange juice fresh from our own oranges. It made 12 buns; perfect for us.

Cranberry Cheese Bars

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2012
This is my idea of the perfect cheesecake bar cookie. I followed the recipe exactly except for adding about 2 Tb. brandy to the cranberry mix. This was easy to make and utterly delicious.

Coffee Date Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2012
This was a very easy, fast recipe to make. I used walnuts and cut the sugar to 2/3 cup. Delicious with morning coffee.

Tender Potato Biscuits

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2012
These were the best biscuits I've ever made, and I've made thousands. They came out so light and fluffy that I had to use a lot of will power not to eat half the batch immediately. They were even good warmed up in the microwave the next morning. Served with honey/butter.

Apple and Spice Pork Roast

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2012
This recipe came out fabulously well. The applesauce mixture was delicious and I used the excess the next morning atop French toast, which was also yummy.

Almond Bars

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2012
These were the easiest cookies to make that I've ever made. For that reason and the fact that my picky husband ate them rather aggresively, I give them 5 stars. The only change I made was to make a glaze rather than dusting with powdered sugar. Next time I may try with some different flavorings, not that it's needed.

Chicken Alfredo

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2012
easy to make and very yummy. I didn't have any red bell pepper, so left it out and didn't miss it. My husband enjoyed eating it as well, so it's a clear winner for us.

Touch of Honey Biscuits

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2012
These were easy to make and delicious. I doubled the recipe but otherwise followed the ingredients. I used my food processor to work the butter, but then transferred to a bowl to add the milk and honey so as not to overwork the dough.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2012
Extremely satisfying chocolate chip cookie flavor. Just what I was looking for--Tollhouse flavor without having to stand in the kitchen all afternoon making drop cookies (I only have 1 cookie sheet). The only complaint is that they destroy my will power to only eat one or two a day.

Congo Bars I

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2012
I think I had a problem with ingredients with this recipe. I used mascabedo sugar--Mexico's commonly used brown sugar--and it didn't work at all. Maybe I'll try again if I can find real American brown sugar. Usually the mascabedo makes a very good substitute. I ended up with a hardened mixture of shortening and sugar that no amount of beating could loosen up.

Tiramisu Layer Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2012
fabulous cake in spite of not being able to buy whipping cream in our town for the authentic frosting. I used the imitation whipped cream frosting available on this web site, which was acceptable but not as good, especially when I added Kahlua to it and it separated slightly. I will definitely make again when I can get to Morelia to buy the right cream.

Sweet and Spicy Green Beans

Reviewed: May 30, 2012
Wonderful Asian flavor. I cut back a bit on the garlic, as my garlic chili sauce is very strong on garlic. Next time I will use just a bit more honey and probably double the amount of sauce so we can pour over rice.

Great lemon flavor. The texture was like cake--very light for a bread.

Chicken Pot Pie IV

Reviewed: May 26, 2012
I had to make my own version of cream of chicken soup, as it is not available here in the Mexican highlands. I basically made a thick white sauce using chicken stock instead of milk. We enjoyed the result very much.

Pear Pie II

Reviewed: May 26, 2012
This was delicious. I followed a few reviewers' advice and cut the sugar to 1/2 Cup, added a little cinnamon and vanilla and sprinkled the top with brown sugar. I'm looking forward to trying with other fruits such as mangos, and strawberries which will need more sugar.
