Tomato Mozzarella Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2012
I subbed fresh lemon juice for the vinegar and 3 corn cracked pepper, but this is a traditional delight, especially in the cool evening after a hot summer day. Simple and delicious!

Tomato Barley Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2014
I like rich beef recipes, so I altered it to include beef in beef broth, but photog is right. If the recipe is enough on it's own to make my mouth water and can't wait to try it...we all have our own fine tuning...I give this a 5

Red Skinned Potato Salad

Reviewed: May 22, 2013
I thought it was awesome. An instant classic. I did use three corn cracked pepper, green and red onions mixed, removed half the yolks and added diced dill pickle and radish to the mix as well as yellow mustard, trimmed the fat off the bacon, and used 1/2 mayo or plain yoghurt and 1/2 ranch...I mean, come on! Nobody says no to ranch, right? The whole family loved it. To mix it up, I usually add crumbled feta with oregano or grated parmesan with basil to give it a Mediterranean flair

Cranberry Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2013
Awesome! Many juices work, as does the addition of any berry and most nuts. Tailor to your own tastes! Very simple. I used apple and pineapple juice and added walnuts to mine. Came out great.

Chicken Sotanghon

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2012
I used oyster ear mushrooms and turmeric (it was all I had) and added shredded cabbage to the boil (for the fiber ;) ). I dipped a warm hard roll in it, added a light salad and some iced tea. More than a meal. I thought it was an excellent recipe and far better even than I expected.

Delicious Egg Salad for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2013
My whole family loved it! Variations we tried were adding dill relish, and/or celery, bacon, ham, and diced pickles. Highly recommended. And very easy to adjust for the number of people.

Boiled Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2013
Thank you!!! And you're right, boiled chicken meat is called for in SOO many recipes and is very expensive comparatively in the cans. This way, NO preservatives, I pick the spices and herbs, salt to taste, VOILA!! And as much chicken meat in my soups as I like! THANK YOU, GEORGE!

Red Pepper Soup

Reviewed: May 19, 2012
I have to admit, I'm new enough to have never heard of red pepper soups, but indeed, the recipe is simple and easy to execute, and completely delicious. The only addition I made were a few chunks of ham, mostly for sweetness and substance. It came out amazingly well.

Chicken Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2013
Any lean meat works. I like to add a little bouillon broth and loads of veggies! Zucchini, yellow squash, snap peas, and mushrooms are all fair game. Also experiment with a dash of Dale's steak seasoning or Road Kill Grill. Enjoy!

Bacon and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2013
Awesome! I was out of carrots and celery, but cabbage worked just fine with a little celery salt tossed in. This does warm you up on a winter morning. I used pork broth, which doesn't get mentioned often, but is easy to come by in oriental stores and more and more by Knorr in the cubed broth section. Great recipe, full of rich flavor!

Japanese Onion Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2012
I added actual beef- london broil- and brown rice, both to add body and make the soup a meal by itself, and found the soup filling and sustaining. I do recommend it. An almost unique combination of traditional French onion soups and beef/mushroom soups.

I like the recipe, but no offense- 2 cups of honey is VERY expensive here in Florida.

Striker's Potatoes O'Brien

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2012
I made these for breakfast. I used new potatoes, a tomato with the juice taken out, rosemary and paprika, and added a single slice of thin bacon. The recipe above is awesome. mine came out great, too. Of all the ones I've seen listed, this one was the only one that didn't use the oven, which made for much more flavorful and crisp potatoes.

Broccoli Beef I

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2014
Quick and easy, GREAT taste. I added red and yellow onions, green beans, celery and cabbage, and a liberal dash of Dale's steak seasoning and cranberry juice instead of stock. A bay leaf, some barley, 4 ozs of pork, three corn cracked pepper, all chased with fresh Italian bread to dip in the juices, cole slaw (hand made with half ranch dressing and mayo), and rotini noodles- Barilla, of course, radishes and green onions with salt for an appetizer, and a chilled Chardonnay or Pinot Grigio, followed by Greek coffee with a light cream. WOW! Wish I'd had green peppers, though.. :(

The only changes I made were to add caraway and 3 juniper berries. Very quick, easy, and as someone said, economical.

Easy Slow Cooker Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2013
Could somebody help with the temp? Most crocks I know are low or high and they NEVER say what the temp may be. I always walk into the computer room and wait till I can smell it, then start checking. This is a good recipe. Works with drumsticks as well, and teriyaki sauce, jamaican jerk, and hickory smoked barbecue...

Spaghetti Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2014
Loved it! I added 1/4 orange bell pepper, a handful of mushrooms, and used fresh basil and oregano. Every one seems seems to conquere on adding tomato paste. That probably would have made it a 5.
