Corny Ham and Potato Scallop

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2005
My whole family ate this up! I used some leftover canned ham I had made the night before with pineapple and brown sugar and around a 1/4 of a real onion instead of the instant. I also added a little salt and pepper. I stirred once about 3/4 of the way through cooking. Yum!

Hermits with Wine

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2004
I really enjoyed these cookies. I had them to munch on for days (made 4 different cookies in a day), and they were as soft and yummy almost a week later as they were right out of the oven. My kids really liked them as well. I didn't use as much wine as called for to soak the raisins because it was not needed. Just enough to cover them worked great.

Sour Cream Raisin Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2004
These cookies are a little bland, but very light. It would make a nice tea cookie. My 2nd time around I added the cinnamon sugar into the cookie mix, and they were better. My husband enjoyed these a lot more than I did.

Creamy Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2004
This is great! I didn't like rice pudding before trying this one. It can be made using leftover rice easily because the rice is cooked in water instead of milk. If you use regular raisins, the color will bleed into the pudding if left overnight. Really easy to reheat: just add a little milk!

A Good Easy Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2004
Pretty good if you need a fast, easy recipe. I did rub the spices into both sides of the chicken. I also needed more than just the 3 tablespoons of butter, so I added peanut oil. My son that doesn't care for meat much liked it when it was hot.

Cream Cheese Pound Cake I

Reviewed: May 1, 2004
This is very tasty. I have made it multiple times, and it turns out wonderful every time. I set my eggs, butter, and cream cheese out and let them come to room temp before making the cake. I think that is the secret to it! I have made with almond extract, but I have also replaced almond with more vanilla and it was super!

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: May 1, 2004
Super! I do kinda make it my own though. I add 1/2 tsp. cinnamon, 1/8 tsp. nutmeg, and 1 tsp. vanilla to the mix. I also use 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1/2 cup white because I like it sweet. This makes wonderful muffins as well!

Butter Tart Muffins

Reviewed: May 1, 2004
These are super! They are very filling. I've lost count how many times I've made these. Thought it was time to review! I used a little over 3/4 cup sugar. I do bake them for at least 25 min at 350 degrees instead of 15 to 17 at 375 degrees and they have always turned out perfect. Great warm or cool!

Round Steak Sauerbraten

Reviewed: May 1, 2004
The family really enjoyed this one, and it was a breeze. I used white wine vinegar. Only change I made was to add a little fresh onion while it was simmering. I simmered for 1 1/2 hours.

Cheeseburger Soup I

Reviewed: May 1, 2004
This is as good as it gets! My picky 18 mo. old ate 2 full bowls! The only changes I made: Used ground sirloin (didn't even have to drain fat), did not use butter to saute meat and veggies (no need), used Velveeta cheese, and used 1 can regular chicken broth with some of a can of roasted garlic seasoned chicken broth without the garlic pieces to make up the rest of the 3 cups. My combined "melted butter and flour then add milk" was very lumpy, so I heated it a little in the microwave to help make smooth. This tasted like it should have come from an upscale restaurant.

Banana Pudding Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2003
My friends go nuts for this cake. I even had one to say this is his new favorite dessert. I add the walnuts to the top, then ice. Also, I ice it while it is still a little warm. Absolutely wonderful!
