About this Cook
Love to cook, I master recipes over time and want and need to be a better and more adventureous cook. Now that my kids are grown and out of the house, I have no idea what to cook anymore that is based on two people potions.
My favorite things to cook
Casseroles, Lasagna, Enchiladas, love to bake cakes, bundt, cookies. We also love to grill. Wish we could find fresh fish, but everything around here is flash frozen or farm raised, which tastes horrible.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have the recipe to the "Cinnabon Cinnamon rolls".. and they are truly better than the original, takes up my entire island to make them. My kids love my pot roast, but we all have tender tummies and have more lean meals now. Love Blonde brownies, chicken, turkey anything.
My cooking triumphs
Amazing pot roast, pulled pork from the crock pot... anything out of a crock pot.
My cooking tragedies
I can NEVER pick a good cut of steak that melts in your mouth. How do you do this?? I desperately need help in picking out a good cut for steak, how to marinade or marinade at all, and how long to cook.

Rock's T-Bone Steaks
I looked at all the reviews and also noticed for the first time that you can change the amount of servings you have and calculate accordingly. I had two servings.. I didn't have Turmeric either like most of us, but it was still good. Since I HATE anything spicy hot, I only used a pinch of cayenne. One thing I added which Emeril suggested on his recipe for T-bone Steaks was to put 1 Tbsp of Olive oil on each side of each steak before rubbing the spices in, which was an awesome idea. I used a little less pepper like everyone suggested. And I did add an additional sprinkle of Emerils original spices on both sides before grilling. And for a good size steak, really make sure your grill is super hot and set a timer for 3.5 minutes on each side. It was a very great steak and will be using this recipe again!!

Cheesy Vegetable Lasagna
I made this recipe last week and made several notes to myself as I was making this. I noticed that there were absolutely no spices added to this at all except for salt and pepper. With every layer I added a sprinkling of Italian Seasongs, otherwise this would've been a very boring tasteless lasagna. I made this for pot luck and was very disappointed in the flavor, it was very weak in flavor. Folks were pouring on the salt and garlic salt. I used leaf spinach instead of frozen and it makes for a prettier presentation and takes the whole unthawing of the spinach out of the equation. I also added sliced mushrooms, which was a great improvement. I would say overall that I added at least a total a Tablespoon or 2 of Italian seasoning and it still need more, so when making this, keep the idea of adding more spices to this recipe. I also added an egg to the cheese mixture to help keep it together, which really helps. I also think that adding maybe a half block of cream cheese might be good as well. I'd like to hear from others about adding spices?
