Monkey Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2010
I had to use 4 cans because the biscuits were small. Also lots of cinammon sugar mix left but that's ok I use it for applesauce topping later. Brown sugar and butter mix delicious but only used half because I also did powdered sugar frosting as topping

Slow Cooker Creamed Corn

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2007
My stepmother has a similar recipe, and she layers the ingredients between packages of corn, and hers also has slices of American cheese in it. I prefer hers, but this one is also okay.

Hot Artichoke Spinach Dip

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2007
YES! For once, a recipe WITHOUT cream cheese. I hate cream cheese in spinach dips. And this one doesn't taste like vinegar either-no hot sauce or vinegar called for! We LOVED it. I do not understand why someone said they would give it less than one star-they must have done something wrong. My husband said it's the best homemade spinach dip by far. Oh, we left out the artichokes. We don't like them.

Peach Cobbler I

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2006
Super-easy and sweet. I love it. I have a sweet tooth, and so does my husband. I was doubtful when I placed it in the oven, but it really did wonders. The only thing I'd change is to add more bread and peaches/other fruits. YUMMY with vanilla ice cream.

Peach Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2006
Didn't have canned peaches so used fresh. Also poked holes in finished cake and poured peach flavored jello over it and let it chill. For the icing, added crystal light peach flavor mix and fresh peaches. Is it obvious I like peaches and wanted more peachiness? :)

Baked Ziti Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2006
yummy. tastes like lasagna. but i have to leave out the ricotta and egg since my husband doesn't like ricotta cheese. I did everything as suggested except instead of spreading ricotta, I sprinkled that 6 italian shredded cheese mix you get at the store over the ziti noodles. Thanks for a no-sour cream baked ziti.

Creamy Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2006
I thought this was overpoweringly sweet, and I have a sweet tooth. My husband couldn't take it; too rich. But...this would be fantasic as the filling for strawberry pretzel squares sort of recipes. Their filling recipe is very close to this frosting.

Old Fashioned Peach Cobbler

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2006
I adapted this for a pie so I needed it a little thicker-just used 1/2 cup OJ and 2 tablespoons of cornstarch. Everything else the same. It was wonderful. The best peach pie filling ever. Thank you. I'm sure it's great as cobbler too, but I needed a pie this time.

Leftover Special Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2006
Maybe it was just me, but the soup mixture was not enough to coat the casserole ingredients. I might have added more chicken (not ham) and veggies, however. I added another can of cream of whatever soup I had on hand, and some more milk, and it was fine. Wasn't bland either. Maybe those of who who think it's bland need to add more soup. Not the low sodium kind, either.

Hash Brown Casserole II

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2005
A bit bland so I sprinkled a tiny bit (possibly two teaspoons overall) of taco seasoning mix on top of the topping after it was done, and then it was a kick-butt casserole.

Blueberry Dump Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2005
I gave this four stars because I do not agree with the melted butter idea. If you cut the butter in slices and evenly place them over the topping, then it will not dry out as other reviewers have complained. Delicious recipe, can be halved easily for those of us with smaller numbers to feed.

Maple Apple Crisp

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2005
I don't know what is wrong with people who think this is too is a DESSERT which is SUPPOSED to be SWEET. If you don't want sweet, then don't make this...obviously, with syrup and sugars, don't expect something mild. It was great. I used light pancake syrup (Aunt Jemima) and used a little more because I used a little more apples, but still used the smaller pan so it would be thicker. Worked like a charm. I LOVE SWEET STUFF. If you like sweet stuff you'll like this apple crisp. Those of you who don't, maybe you should leave out the syrup and replace it with some water.

Hot Cheesy Spinach Dip

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2005
Tasted like vinegar. Everyone I let sample this recipe thought so too. I noticed that vinegar was an ingredient in hot sauce. Maybe one should subsitute cayenne pepper instead, or maybe it was the mayo. I don't know. The cheese was also clumpier than in restaurants, even after carefully watching it in the oven. I am giving the recipe two stars instead of one because I think it can be modified to taste a lot better.

Ruby Red Layered Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2004
I really can't rate this accurately because I changed things. I do not care for sour cream, so I changed that to 8oz FF cool whip mixed with 1 cup sugar/splenda and 8oz FF cream cheese. I then added another layer of this on top of the cherry jello mixture, and sprinkled crushed pretzels on top. I crushed about a cup and a half, mixed with 2 T melted butter, and 1/4 cup sugar/splenda. Of course, I used sugar-free jello, and doubled the pineapple. It is wonderful. I am curious if pudding would be a good substitute for the sour cream?

Granny's Banana Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2004
The taste is great. My complaint with this recipe has to do with the size of the loaf...way, way too big for one pan. Mine burnt on the outside in order to get it done on the inside. The recipe should specify two pans, not one. But I'm not that upset because banana is not my favorite flavor; we made this just to creatively use them up.

Jiffy Cinnamon Rolls

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2004
Wonderful. But don't bake them for as long as it says. Mine were plenty done in 12 minutes. Also if you soften the butter for the cinnamon mixture it spreads a lot easier! I add a bit of vanilla to my frosting as well, and leave off the currants because I never have any around. This recipe made 24 rolls for me.

Lemon Cooler Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2004
I altered this a little...I wanted more of the sour flavor. I used only half the amount of ice cream, limeade concentrate, and light coolwhip. It made more than enough for one pie. If I had used the entire amount of ice cream called for I'd have had way too much filling for just one pie! Overall, a very very good pie.

Self Frosting Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2004
These are the best oatmeal cookies I have ever made or tasted. I chilled the dough for 3 hours, and I rolled it lightly in 10x sugar-the self made glaze is terrific. They are chewy, not cake like. I highly recommend this recipe.
