Slow Cooker Chicken Creole

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2007
We really enjoyed this recipe. I made just to the directions except for a bit more jalapeno and served them whole over a bed of rice. They devoured it. the package of breasts I used had 5 in it and there are 3 of us. I took the 2 remaining checken breasts and shredded them. Then I added a package of frozen gumbo vegetables and some egg noodles and made an abslutly wonderful soup. I love recipes like this! thanks so much!

Hearty Hash Brown Dinner

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2007
If I could rate this higher I would. I don't have a crock with a timer. I adapted this to cook in the oven so I could make it one evening after work. I just thawed everything out and browned and drained the beef then assembled in a casserole dish. I did mix the milk, soup and cheese (not quite as much cheese as the recipe called for)in a bowl and microwaved it until the cheese melted. I poured that over the meat & veggie mixture and baked in the oven until it bubbled. Then I topped it with the onions and served with warm sourdough bread. This is delish. And, it was a snap. Thank you for a recipe I plan to use again soon!

Peppermint Brittle

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2007
This is very good! I made one batch exactly by the recipe. Then I made a second batch except before I sprinkled some of the candy cane bits on top, I melted about a good handfull of semi-sweet chocolate chips and drizzled on the top. Then I took a toothpick and kind of swirled it in. That was very good as well. I will be keeping this recipe for future use. Thank you!!!

Friendship Soup Mix in a Jar

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2007
I gave this out as gifts this year and my goodness, what a reception! This soup is wonderful. It looks nice in the jars and tastes sooo good. The baskets had this soup mix, the can of tomatoes, the tomato sauce, a big ladle, and a package of corn bread. Every thing they'd need except the meat. (I filled in with some other little homemade treats.) It made up a very nice basket. Everyone loved them. Thanks for a truly wonderful post. I will surely be using this again!

Microwave Peanut Brittle

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2006
I made this over the weekend. I was going to use it in gift baskets I'm making. I took the advice of other reviewers and broke up the cooking time to 4 minute intervals. Mine turned out really gooey. I even put it in the freezer! I never set up and got hard like a brittle should be. I had to call someone and get another recipe. Sorry. The taste was fine, but I won't be using this one again. Thanks anyway.

Wine Jelly

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2006
I read where other reviewers had trouble with the consistency of this recipe so the first time used the liquid pectin and doubled it. Boy, it set right up! It didn't seem to affect the taste as far as I can tell. The second batch, I only used one envelope of the liquid. It had set up by the next morning. In both cases I used a Chablis. The jelly tastes just like white grapes. It's very pretty and quite tasty. I'll be making some more to give in gift baskets. This time I'm going to use a Rose`. I really like this recipe. I'm new to jelly making. This recipe gives a lot of room to experiment. Thank you for posting it.

Candy Apple Jelly

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2006
I got 7 8oz jars out of this. It is a beautiful rosy red color. It tastes like baked apples, which I love. Nice recipe. Very easy. These will be included in the gift baskets I'm making. Thank you for the post.

Slow Cooker Green Beans, Ham and Potatoes

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2006
Made this yesterday. I stuck with the recipe pretty much except I added a little Creole seasoning and I cooked it on the stove. This is very good. Reminds me of my grandmothers cooking. A real keeper, Thanks!

Zucchini Tomato Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2006
I'll be keeping this one. As written it's good, but has worlds of possibilities for additions. I added some shredded cheddar. My husband suggested adding some chicken next time. Thanks for a keeper!

Scalloped Corn and Broccoli

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2006
This was good. I cut back on the sugar. I use only about a teaspoon. I prefer to add some crumbled butter crackers on top about the last 10 minutes of cooking.

Absolute Mexican Cornbread

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2006
I had to make a couple of alterations. I used fresh chopped and seeded jalapenos instad of the canned green chiles because I was out of them. I also cut way back on the sugar because of the sweetness of the corn, and also cust the butter in half because of preference. I used fine shredded mexican blend cheese because that's what I had on hand. We absolutely love this cornbread. Hmm, I think I'll make some more tonight!!

Baked Honey Mustard Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2006
This is a great main dish. I use a spicey mustard instead of regular. I also like the idea another reviewer had of cutting the chicken into strips, I'll try that next time. As written this is good, add some steamed vegetables and some garlic bread, you've got a nice meal in a short time. Thank you for sharing.

My Mother-in-Law's Cheese Sauce...ssshh Don't Tell Her

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2006
Very nice. As written it is a little thin. I cut the recipe almost in half. (I don't usually use exact measurements.) I did measure out the cornstarch and water recommended and ended up needing a little more. I did like this and will use it again. Thanks for posting it.

Spicy Squash Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2006
This just wasn't to our liking. The only change I made was in the cooking order. I sauteed the squash, onion, jalapeno together to keep all of their flavors and then browned my ground beef and drained it. I added a little Creole seasoning for oomph. While it wasn't bad, we all agreed it just wasn't something we will have again. Thanks anyway.

Kielbasa and Veggies

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2006
We liked this. I used california mixed vegetables with broccoli, cauliflower and carrots. Diced my potatos small so they would be sure to cooke evenly with the rest. Added my salt a pepper and a bit of garlic powder. This is a good week night recipe to use for busy families. You can put it together, pop it in the oven, piddle around the house and before you know it dinner is ready. Thanks for a great post.

Central American Tacos

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2006
I wish I had paid more attention to the other reviews, as written there were way to many potatos, could have used more spice, and the sauce was just like guacamole. I seriously doubt I'll make this again, there are beeter reicpes out there.
