Turkey Pot Pie I

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2010
VERY good recipe. I bit dry for my taste but that is easy enough to fix. The only thing I did different was the potatos I had were quite large so I only used two. Instead of fresh carrots I used a corn, carrot and pea frozen mix I had in the freezer. I kept thinking there was no way all of that was going to fit in my deep 9" plate, but it fit perfectly. I added just a touch of sage for a bit more flavor. I will increase the liquid a bit next time for personal taste. Over all a really VERy good recipe. Thanks for posting it!

All-Day Apple Butter

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2010
This is wonderful. I had 6 pounds of Honey Crisp apples that I peeled and cored. I let it cook overnight in the slow cooker. After cooking, I put it in the blender to puree even smoother. I got 3 and 1/2 pints with just a tad left over we had for breakfast that morning. I canned it in a hot water bath for 10 minutes. Should make a nice gift for some folks this Christmas! I am already planning a second batch while the apples are in peak season. Thank you for posting!

This is very good and pleasing to the eye. Net time however I may use Vanilla Yogurt as others suggested. and BTW, it keeps quite well in the freezer.

Chicken Salad Sandwiches

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2010
We love this. The only change I made was to sub chiopped Jalapeno in place of the bell pepper out of personal preference - we like spicy, and the mayo, I used the reduced fat mayo from Olive Oil, and left out the olives b/c DH isn't a fan of them. This was wonderful. I will definately keep this recipe for future use!

Cherry Tomato Corn Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2010
This was soooo good. The only thing I did differently was to add a little choppd purple onion. This accompanies good ole Texas bbq perfectly. Definately a keeper recipe. I can't much simpler or better.

Grandpa's Classic Coney Sauce

This is the best coney sauce ever! Made it by the recipe, only cut it in half. This WILL be my "go to" hot dog sauce from now on.

Daddy Charles's Spooley

Good stuff. I made it first with Cranberry/ pomegranite juice that I had on hand. Wasn't crazy about it. Went a got the fruit juice and it made a huge difference. Thanks for the post. I will be using this one frequently. Thanks also to Lillian for posting the "by the drink" measurements.

Salmon and Spinach Fettuccine

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2010
Yum. Had some left over salmon we had smoked on the pit I needed something to do with and found this recipe. Followed the recipe exactly with excellent results. After reading reviews I was wary of adding salt and since the capers are very salty I'm glad I was careful. It could be very easy to over salt this. It is a wonderful recipe I will make again without any changes. Thank you for the post.

Made these Saturday morning. Very good! Lots of possibilities to use variations. I think for me, next time, I will 1/2 the biscuits for less dough and more filling. Very good recipe. Thanks for posting!

Absolutely The Best Shrimp Scampi

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2010
Made this last night for dinner. It was very good. I think next time I will take the suggestions of another reviewer and add some green onion and diced roma. I think that will bring something very nice to the dish. I would like for it to have been a bit more saucey since this does not really produce any sauce. Thanks for the post!

Slow Cooker Cassoulet

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2010
As per previous reviews of this being too salty, I held back on salting it. I will next time use the chicken broth instead of the wine. I subbed great northern beans instead of the cannelini, and i did end up salting it a bit at the end. My recipe did not start to "break down" and thicken until about the 7th hour. I did use bone in breast/ that's what I had on hand and prefer to use since they dont dry out as bad. Served this with "ali's amazing bruschetta" also from this site. This was a great dinner on a end of the season surprise cold night. Thank you for sharing!! It was well received.

Cheesy Chicken Pot Pie

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2010
This was okay. It is easy enough but I just don't think its the right recipe for us. I found myself missing the more traditional taste of a chicken pot pie. I'm giving it 4 stars because as the recipe goes it is pretty good and easy, but like I said, not the one for us. So, thanks for posting.

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2009
Love this. Would not change a thing except, I did it all stovetop. I seasoned the chicken breast and stuck them under the broiler on low untill the juices ran clear then set aside to cool while I assembled the rest in a large pot. I shredded the chicken an added and let simmer until the onion was done, but still just a little crisp (personal choice). Topped with the crushed chips and sour cream. All was done in about an hour and still yummy! Made it several times and will keep in my recipe box for future use!

Chiles Rellenos Pie

Very Good! I had bits of several different likds of cheeses in the fridge from other endeavors so I combined them all to make the required amount of cheese in this....none was monterrey jack. Some was Swiss, some Mozzerella, some cheddar, some Velveeta...it came out wonderful. Am looking forward to the leftovers tonight. Thank you for posting this one!

Basil, Tomato and Mozzarella Sandwich

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2009
I did these as open faced "melts" for a recent party I had. They are completely yummy and way easy to make. DH asked for more later after everyone had left. I brushed the bread with EVOO and toasted. Then put down the sliced ripe tomato, chopped fresh basil, and fresh mozzerella on top. I put it back in the oven just until the cheese started to melt. So simple and awesome. Great with a nice bowl of soup ....or by themselves! Thank you for posting.
